Headspace has come out with their new Workforce Trends Report and the results just might surprise you. Of all the workers surveyed, 77% said that work stress had negatively impacted their health, 71% said work stress had caused a relationship to end for them, and 40% said work had caused mental health issues. More employees reported that leaders in their organizations had talked about mental health. This year 89% said they had conversations at work about mental health, up from 35% in 2020. HR leaders and managers are the ones on the frontlines of the mental health crisis in the workplace. Workplace leaders must show support to employees, offering them access to quality, comprehensive programs to help and benefit their mental health. #HRStrategies #MentalHealth #WorkplaceStress #StressAwarenessMonth

"It's crucial for employers to show their employees how valued they are as individuals by offering comprehensive, quality programs that support their mental wellbeing." According to a recent Headspace Report: 77% of employees say that work stress has negatively impacted their physical health and 75% say it caused them to gain weight. 71% of employees report that work stress has caused a personal relationship to end, with Gen X employees being more likely (79%) than any other generation to report that work stress has led to a breakup or divorce. It starts with leaders developing their self-awareness and learning to manage their stress while increasing empathy for their employees, and offering quality programs for employees' mental health. #burnout #substanceuse #increasedivorcerates #healthdecline #mindfulness #resilience #mentalhealth #increaseempathy https://lnkd.in/gPwCKY_U

I'm encouraged by the findings of the Headspace Workforce State of Mind report, particularly the significant increase in open dialogue about mental health in the workplace since 2020. However, the concerning impact of work stress on employee wellbeing underscores the urgent need for businesses to prioritize mental health and wellbeing. The data showing that employees benefit greatly from company-provided mental health resources highlights the tangible impact of such investments. It's crucial for businesses to equip managers with mental health training and foster a sense of community to address the growing loneliness crisis, especially in remote work environments. The testimonial from Mike Branca of Regions Bank further highlights the positive outcomes of prioritizing employee wellbeing. Overall, this report underscores the importance of creating supportive well workplace cultures where employees can thrive both personally and professionally. 📣 What are your thoughts on the Headspace report on work-related stress? Companies can't "mental health support" their way out of a crummy culture of extra work, "do more with less," pressure to do the impossible, and abusive leadership. This report is evidence that employee mental health issues don't stem from lack of self care or mental support. They stem from work cultures hell bent on creating the very mental problems they purport to support. Businesses must first invest in developing a quality culture and accurately measure it through effective employee satisfaction surveys (not questions designed to skirt the known issues), employee retention measurements, and internal career growth monitoring. People want meaningful work, they want to grow in their skills and development, and they need balance to perform at their highest. No matter the industry, people are the reason every business exists. Put people first, and the possibilities are endless ✨

Leadership and management have a direct impact on an employee’s work-related stress. Likewise, the way that leaders and managers handle their responsibilities directly influences their own work-related stress. It’s clear, and this data helps support it, that when leaders get it wrong, the negative consequences extend far beyond the workplace. When we get right, however, the positive ripple effects can improve so much more than just an employee’s work life. Brush up on your leadership skills and I’ll keep sharpening my saw as well. Let’s do better and it will pay dividends beyond our expectations.

Did you know that work stress can have a serious impact on both our physical and mental health? A recent report revealed that 77% of employees have experienced negative physical health effects due to work stress, while 37% have faced serious mental health challenges as a result. Shockingly, 71% of employees even reported that work stress led to the end of a personal relationship. This emphasises the crucial role that leaders play in creating a healthy and safe work environment. By incorporating principles of neuroleadership, organisations can promote a culture of well-being that reduces stress, improves communication, enhances decision-making, builds resilience, and boosts employee engagement. https://hubs.ly/Q02w6Cd70 #WorkplaceWellness #Neuroleadership #neuroscience #MentalHealthMatters #workplaceculture #culture
