"Did you know ?" Every day, on GlassApp ! Today, Heliotrope House in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) 🇩🇪 Heliotrope House is an experimental house located in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, designed by the architect Rolf Disch. It opened to the public in1994, it is especially well-known for being the world’s first house to produce more energy that it consumes, thanks to its positive energy solar house concept. It was designed to shift its position depending on the trajectory of the sun such that it captures a maximum amount of energy throughout the day; it has solar panels on the roof and façades which generate all the energy required for its own needs whilst even generating a surplus which is redistributed onto the grid. {...} 📸 Credit Photo : Habitat Bulles

🌞 Understanding Bifacial vs. Monofacial Solar Modules 🌍 As the solar industry evolves, it’s essential to recognize the differences between bifacial and monofacial solar modules, each offering unique benefits for various applications. Monofacial Solar Modules Design: Traditional panels that capture sunlight on one side. Performance: Efficient for standard installations like rooftops. Cost: Generally more affordable, making them popular for residential and small-scale commercial projects. Example: Commonly used in residential solar installations, such as on the roofs of homes, where direct sunlight is abundant. Bifacial Solar Modules Design: Advanced panels that absorb sunlight from both sides. Energy Gain: Can produce up to 30% more energy, especially in high-reflectivity environments. Durability: Typically made with dual glass, offering better protection against environmental damage. Example: This is ideal for large solar farms, such as those built in open fields or over parking lots, where sunlight reflects off the ground and enhances energy production. Key Differences Energy Production: Bifacial panels harness light from the rear side, enhancing overall efficiency. Installation: Monofacial modules work well in shaded or non-reflective settings, while bifacial panels excel in open spaces with reflective surfaces. Which is Right for You? Monofacial: Ideal for residential roofs or limited spaces. Bifacial: Best for large-scale projects and areas with high reflectivity. Choosing the right solar module can significantly impact energy output and system efficiency. Understanding these differences is crucial for optimizing solar investments! 💡🌱 #SolarEnergy #Bifacial #Monofacial #RenewableEnergy #CleanTech #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #SolarModules #TataPower #AdaniSolar #WaareeEnergies

Hydronic heating in off-grid homes Close to 50,000 solar battery systems were installed across the nation in 2022, a 55 percent increase on 2021 numbers. Taking it to the next level, approximately two percent of Aussies are living 'off the grid' - not connected to mains water or energy - but the move to off-grid doesn't need to mean leaving urban surroundings. Discover how hydronic heating and renewable energy solutions can comfortably support off-grid lifestyles. https://lnkd.in/eVWXKPwC #huntheating #hydronicheating #radiantheating #underfloorheating #heating #energyefficient #bathroomheating #heatingsystem #heatingandcooling #heatingaustralia #underfloorheatingaustralia #luxuryhome #designer #homedecor #interiordesign

⚡️Unusual Places for Solar Panel Installation⚡️ Solar technologies continue to find new applications, transforming everyday and unexpected locations into sources of clean energy. Let's explore three unique examples where solar panels can be utilized in unconventional ways, demonstrating their potential and versatility. Building Facade Cladding.🏢 Solar panels used as building facade cladding open a new chapter in architecture and building design. This solution is suitable for both new constructions and the renovation of existing buildings, making them not only visually appealing but also energy-efficient. Photovoltaic facade modules can serve for insulation, and glazing of balconies and facades, providing additional thermal insulation and reducing street noise levels. Agricultural Fields.🌿 Vertical solar panels can be placed on fields used for agriculture, saving space and generating electricity. An innovative approach to deploying solar panels on agricultural fields was proposed by scientists at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences. Vertical installation of the panels optimizes land use by allowing crops to be grown between the rows of panels and increases the efficiency of electricity generation by using bi-directional modules oriented east and west. Roadside Retaining Walls.🛣 The Swiss canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden pioneered the use of vertical solar panels on roadside retaining walls. This project not only contributes to the production of renewable energy but also demonstrates the effective use of space along roads. The installed panels provide energy for about 52 households, highlighting the potential of solar energy in an urban environment. These examples show that solar panels can find application in the most unexpected places, opening new possibilities for clean energy generation. From building facades and agricultural fields to roadside walls, solar technologies offer solutions for sustainable development and efficient resource use, confirming their significant potential in the modern world. #SolarPower #Solar #SolarEnergy #SolarPannels #Sustainability #Innovation #DEREX

Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) blend solar energy technology into building structures, offering both aesthetic and functional benefits. Here are some key examples: Solar Roof Tiles and Shingles: Look like traditional roofing materials but generate electricity. Example: Tesla Solar Roof. Solar Facades and Cladding: Replace building materials on exteriors, adding energy production to walls. Example: Copenhagen International School. Solar Windows and Glass: Transparent or semi-transparent panels generate power while letting light through. Example: Onyx Solar windows. Solar Canopies and Awnings: Provide shade and shelter while producing energy. Example: Envision Solar carports. Solar Skylights: Generate electricity and allow natural light into buildings. Example: Prism Solar skylights.

Study Finds Custom-Colored Modules Enhance Acceptance of Photovoltaics on Buildings A joint study conducted by the Institute of Psychology at the University of Freiburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE has revealed that social acceptance of building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) in urban areas is overwhelmingly positive. The study highlights a stronger preference for integrating solar technology into modern buildings compared to historic structures. However, this gap narrows significantly when the photovoltaic (PV) modules are designed to blend seamlessly with building facades or roofs. Key findings from the study, carried out as part of the livMatS Cluster of Excellence at the University of Freiburg, indicate that visually harmonious PV […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gGTqNPsn #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #bipvmodule #coloredmodule #fraunhoferinstituteforsolarenergysystemsise #universityoffreiburg
