Make sure to check out the report below on the International Conference on the Future Agenda for Action on Global Diaspora Engagement which saw the arrival of the Global Diaspora Policy Alliance. Thrilled to see Irish leadership involved across this momentum from the Global Diaspora Summit to the alliance. Special thanks to Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland, Government of Cape Verde, and all involved. The Dublin Declaration for diaspora engagement has laid a foundational blueprint for #diasporaengagement. Like any good foundation, the aim is to build upon it and the agility of #diaspora is what makes that such a potent potential for a changing world. On this foundation, we can go in so many fascinating directions to leave a positive impact on the world. At the conference, I shared the story of how the seeds of all this were planted so I'll close with that here for those who may have missed that! It came from the quiet heroes of this work in folks like Larisa LARA, PhD and Roberto Gil CANCEL COMAS making a call to Ireland which set in motion a chain of other calls that led us to this stage through the leadership of many others. The lesson in all of this: 1. Small networks with the right mission can do amazing things. 2. Understand the value of help and make the ask - you know the saying....if you don't ask, you don't get. 3. Be ready to deliver. The exciting thing now is that with this blueprint and process, it's time to deliver even more innovation and impact in diaspora work. It is now the ask to all of us in diaspora engagement -- show us what you see for the future? We are just getting rolling and I promise you, Ireland won't be short in supplying ideas and answers on the road ahead! Onwards.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT TIPS FOR AFRICA 💡 Accommodative #policies must rule if we are to develop Africa sustainably. We have our flaws and deflecting them won't help us. You cannot invite in a guest who does not understand the role of a church, putting money before human rights, simply because you disagreed with one who built the church in 1 or 2 things! This approach will only lead to further fragmentation and hinder our progress. 💡 To avoid this, we can learn from other regions that have successfully navigated external influences while maintaining their identity and autonomy. For instance, #Asia has prioritized self-determination, cultural preservation, and strategic engagement with foreign #partners, allowing them to adapt external models to their local contexts. Africa can draw valuable lessons from this approach. 💡 Similarly, indigenous #cultures worldwide have resisted assimilation by preserving their traditions, languages, and values. This is a powerful example for Africa, where cultural heritage and diversity can inform and shape development paths that honor human rights and dignity. By embracing our unique #identity and autonomy, we can forge a development trajectory that truly benefits our people. 💡 In conclusion, let us focus on building a brighter #future for Africa, where human rights and dignity are paramount. By acknowledging our flaws, learning from others, and embracing our diversity, we can create a more inclusive and equitable environment for #sustainable development. Follow Patrick Ssempeera as we put #africa on the correct #sustainabledevelopment path.

🎤 These words by #Ellen Johnson Sirleaf resonate deeply in the African context, where challenges and opportunities intersect at every turn. #Africa is at a critical juncture in its #development. Our actions today shape the realities of tomorrow. Investing in robust democratic systems 🗳️, promoting equality 🤝, and encouraging sustainable development 🌿 are essential to building a future where every citizen can thrive. Let’s not just talk about change, but embody it through concrete and impactful #actions. Whether in governance, the economy, or civil society, it is through our collective efforts that we will build a strong and resilient Africa. Let's act together for a future where our actions speak louder than our words. 💪🌍 #MondayQuote #BuildNewAfrica #MoreActions #LessWords #ProsperousAfrica

How does the Grant Facility fit within the larger migration and mobility governance frameworks existing within Africa and between Africa and the EU? 🌍 Since the 2000s, the #EU and #Africa have been engaging in an extensive and comprehensive #dialogue on migration and mobility, making it a fundamental pillar of their longstanding #partnership. ✅ At the 6th EU-AU Summit in February 2022, the EU and the AU reaffirmed their commitment to improving governance, management and cooperation on #migration and #mobility, both within Africa and between Africa and the EU as part of their Joint Vision for 2030. 🤝 To sustain a stronger and mutually beneficial partnership, it is crucial to establish and foster dialogue with different actors that promote a comprehensive understanding of migration issues. These include regional government institutions, local authorities, #cities and #municipalities as well as non-governmental actors, such as #CSOs, #diaspora organizations, migrant associations, community groups, and #academia as put forward by the AU Migration Policy Framework for Africa and Plan of Action (2018 – 2030). ⬇ Here's a closer look at the key milestones of the EU-Africa partnership on migration and mobility at both the regional and continental levels! #Migration #Mobility #CivilSociety #Africa #EU #Partnership #Cooperation #MMD #Grants #CallForProposals International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) European Commission AfricanUnion Rabat Process Khartoum Process
