🚀 Driving Growth in Data Center Optics: Insights from ECOC 2024 During one of the recent keynotes at ECOC 2024, it was highlighted how artificial intelligence is catalyzing unprecedented growth in high-speed optics shipments and revenue for data centers. Here are some key points: Widespread Growth: We are witnessing growth across all speeds, but the 800GbE market is currently the most prominent. 1.6T Expectations: Demand for higher capacities is intense, and the arrival of 1.6T technology is highly anticipated. Bandwidth and Revenue Evolution: Although the number of shipped modules may stabilize, bandwidth and revenue are expected to continue increasing thanks to AI. Expansion Beyond Data Centers: AI is not only driving bandwidth growth within data centers but also in external applications. Dominance of Traditional Pluggable Optics: In the short term, traditional pluggable optics based on intensity-modulated direct detection (IM-DD) are expected to remain dominant in shipments. Today's EWIT2024 has been very intresting, alot of new ideas, alot of new perspectives seen and i got to meet alot ofamazing ladies, some i knew for years and some i got to meet for the first time. here are some of the highlights from todays sessions: - Great Focus on AI and ML in creating and delivering solutions of big players in the market like salesforce, Banks and some travel related companies. - Informative and useful sessions around diversity were delivered by some of the leading companies in the international market and the dutch market, ASML has done a great job showing it across all levels. - One of the biggest problems seen till today in the market is still the pay gap between male and female employees doing the same job. So this is still an ongoing effort for most of the companies that presented today. with that much of focus on AI usage and how much companies are eager to use it, i had one thought: "What about security?"
