🤔 What are the building blocks of a winning fundraising story? 🤔 Today, I am off to Belgium to work with a client gearing up for their series B fundraising round. A series B story is not a series A story is not a seed story. However, while each fundraising stage presents unique challenges and investor expectations, some elements remain constant. Every compelling narrative, regardless of context, rests upon four pillars, which Aristotle described over two millennia ago: 1. clarity 2. trust 3. connection 4. timing. Depending on the interaction stage and the company's maturity, we can emphasize some of them more. Last night I was invited to an event called The Soft Society, hosted by some friends - Avi Ajwani, Jennifer Carr and others - at the Impact Hub Barcelona. It was a charitable event, and I thought that, as a contribution, I would take visual notes, as I would have done anyway. When I got there, I asked the main host: what is your purpose with this event? Turns out the event had no hidden agenda, it was simply about giving and opening a circle around the topic (extremely hot in my life right now) of being an entrepreneur in a very hard business world, where competition is hard, and we have the feeling that we cannot stop running, ever. Because what if we do? The Soft Society circle was a place where my heart could rest, where I breathed deeply after days of holding it, where we gathered to “remember together” what life, including business, should be about. And no, it´s not about hustling, running, pushing people so you can get what you want. It´s not about waking up anxious because you don’t know if you are getting hired for a job. It´s not about fear of not making it. It´s not about scarcity mindset. A Soft Society is a society made by people that are connected to themselves, to their guts, their dreams, that recognize the power of their intuition, that have deep trust in life. It is people that have learned enough about themselves to recognize their own patters and reactions to certain environments so that they can create environments that are GOOD for them. I recognize that´s not me, YET. (But I am half way there 😁 ). I hope this visual harvest will help anyone watching it to recognize themselves, if they are in the “hard” part of it, and just take a long, deep, breath.
