I’ve talked to so many women from my generation who have difficult relationships with their mothers—relationships filled with jealousy, competition, and a sense of entitlement. Why does it seem like some mothers don’t want their daughters to thrive? Instead of lifting them up, they pull them down. It’s heartbreaking. We deserve love, support, and healthy boundaries. Let’s break this toxic cycle and build better connections. #MotherDaughterHealing #BreakTheCycle #ToxicRelationships #GenerationalHealing #SelfWorth #HealthyBoundaries #LoveAndGrowth

What will actually make Women's Day meaningful? Ironically, how females experience the world the rest of the year is precisely where the answer lies. What systemic change is needed so that 1. Girls do not have to drop out of school because there are no toilets 2. Girls who DO go to school and crack the state and national exams do not have to drop out half-way or after their education to get married 3. Women who start working in organisations are 👉 not asked questions on marriage, plans for pregnancy etc. 👉 do not *have* to drop out or take a pay cut or explain WHAT they did for those few years blah blah when re-joining 4. Girls and women can roam the streets, visit Cubbon Park or return home in the dark, *without* a second thought. 5. When females say No, it is unambiguously clear to the world and its uncle that it means No 6. Gender crimes (acid attack, rape and domestic violence, MeToo) become a thing of the past 7. Females practice and maintain good physical and mental health: 👉 for the 3 key life-stages of menarch, childbirth and menopause 👉 for the day-to-day challenges that are now correlated with auto-immune and chronic conditions (which are significantly greater in women than men) 8. Females are directly involved in ALL decion-making, policy-planning and law-making, governmental or otherwise. 50% of the world's population is under-valued, dismissed, disrespected and subject to numerous prejudices and crimes...not only several times a day, but for thousands of years. Intergenerational female guilt is real. It is the other 50% who commit these crimes and who have thus far held the reins for real change. I wonder if this is not a 'problem worth solving' enough? How can we collectively begin to honour and value: 👉 women's issues as we do men's 👉 children's issues as we do adults' 👉 natural intelligence as we do AI 👉 humanity as we do economy Would love to hear your reflections. #womenempowerment #iwd2024 #internationalwomensday2024 #humancenteredleadership #balanceandharmony #wellness

“Women are overwhelmingly self centered narcissists for not wanting to have children.” 😱 Said Jordan Peterson - who alarmingly has more than 20million followers online and masks his #misogynistic perspectives with a thin veneer of intellectual credibility. A few weeks ago, I came across this interview between Jordan Peterson and Stephen Shaw (this video is an excerpt) . Stephen Shaw had piqued my interest because he’d been featured on BBC Hard Talk about the ‘crisis’ of falling birth rates and how many women he interviewed were filled with regret for ending up ‘#childless’. I’m not one to highlight things I hate. But I feel compelled in this case because I’m seeing an increasing uptick in men BLAMING women for the falling birth rates. Men like Jordan Peterson who use their thinly veiled pseudo-intellectual persona to spread fear and prejudice- mourning the good old times when women knew their place (Stephen shaw takes a different faux -empathetic tactic and says ‘data’ a lot to back up ultimately the same message). Alarmingly, you’re seeing it’s effects: there’s a growing trend in Western culture called the #tradwife (link below). The recent Newsweek article calling Taylor Swift a questionable role model because she’s ‘#unmarried and #childless at 34’ (also link below). The economic dilemma (as a result of less babies) is being positioned as a #uterus dilemma. Our uterus is responsible for propping up consumerism and economic growth - and how selfish of us not to pop out babies to save the falling GDP. It is INSIDUOUS. This is a societal issue. It is a childcare issue. It is a gender equity issue. It is a cost of living issue. It is an economic stability issue. It is NOT a ‘women you need to be less self centered’ issue! I guarantee you will now see it everywhere. Crisis! Falling birth rate! Shrinking economy! Women need to play their part! It is the #patriarchal systems in action and we must reject this line of thinking before it gains more momentum than it already has. Anyone else noticing the same thing? #BirthRates #GenderEquality #WomensRights #FallingBirthRates #PopulationDecline #Misogyny

The shocking truth: Stereotypes and biases in organizations impact how employees' health experiences are seen. In some cultures, menopause isn't openly discussed, and talking about menstrual health and peri/menopause can be considered taboo. People might express their feelings, pains or concerns in different ways, and you might miss them because of unconscious biases. Periods transcend gender, race, and culture, impacting us all profoundly. Join Period Reality in advocating for systemic changes in education and the workplace to achieve full gender equity.

This week marks National Infertility Awareness Week in the United States—a great time to address an often undiscussed aspect of health that affects a significant portion of our population. Did you know that 17% of individuals face infertility challenges, surpassing the prevalence of conditions like depression and diabetes? This really highlights the urgency of recognising infertility as a critical global health concern of the 21st century. In today's competitive job market, where organisational culture and benefits play pivotal roles, it's imperative for employers to prioritise comprehensive support systems. The urgency of this is easily highlighted by the fact that, according to a 2023 study, 43% of Millennials are contemplating job changes within the next year due to inadequate workplace fertility or baby loss assistance. By implementing fertility benefits, organisations not only demonstrate their commitment to individualised employee care but also foster an environment conducive to inclusive conversations, particularly regarding the 🏳️🌈 LGBTQ+ community's needs. Let's dismantle the silence and stigma surrounding infertility together, by fostering open dialogue. In doing this, we can cultivate workplaces where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered. ❤️ This year's theme for NIAW is 'Leave your Mark', if you're interested in making a mark on your employees' lives with apryl, I'd love to book a meeting with you- you can drop me a message or follow the link in my profile! 😁 If you're an employee who wants to make a mark on your company and recommend this benefit to your employer- feel free to do so here: https://lnkd.in/e-TxXqEG #NIAW #makeyourmark #fertilitybenefits #employeebenefits #NIAW2024
