Back to Barcelona, coming from a new edition of Intertraffic, the flagship fair in the parking sector that takes place every 2 years. In the previous edition, I could still feel the effects of the pandemic so for this time I was a bit afraid to see if the exhibition had fully recovered regarding the number of visitors..., and finally, just after two days (and still at the equator of the exhibition) I can say that I am returning glad and satisfied. 😊 👉 Glad to see that the exhibition does not only reach it's normal attendance figures but seems it is growing.🤜 👉 Glad to see the interest by our customers (and new leads) in our products and solutions for efficient parking.👏👏 👉Satisfied that our new products and solutions are very well accepted and our continuous development is recognised. Such as the electric vehicle charger eNext Park T-Two with dual three-phase socket💪so convenient to reduce Opex and Capex to our customers. Or the new outdoor parking solution based on the Falcon sensor for counting, guidance and video surveillance. 👉And finally satisfied with the people who made all this possible, starting with our booth provider, followed by our Marketing and Communication team (lead by Judith Lagunas , Meritxell Cazorla Mestres , Mireia Parra Gómez , Roger Terricabras Capdevila ) that often they are under too much stress to achieve the visuals (like the new video released two days ago), leaflets, post, etc..., and last but not least to the overall commercial team, so involved and passionate on their aim to explain our great solutions, and to support our customers in their business. #circontrol #cirpark #intertraffic

𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞? In a few hours I am flying to Graz for the speakers dinner prior to Creators Lounge panel tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow I am leading the panel “Human Meets Machine: Redefining Interactions for the Future”. If you, yes you, dear reader, are not in my network just since yesterday, you might have noticed something unusual - what could it be? Correct, I said ‘flying’!!! The distance Zurich-Graz is what I did and do quite easily via train connection which is way more sustainable option. Sustainability is a choice. This time I can’t organize it differently within my family and because also in 2024 I can’t be in two places at the same time 😆 I have to fly that short distance 🫣 Yes, sustainably is a choice but nobody is perfect. But you know what is the CRAZY part of it? For me it was clear that I can at least organize my return to Zurich via train. Said and booked - great! But when I checked the one way flight Zurich-Graz, there were any, apparently I would have to fly via Vienna. How is that possible that I see Zurich-Graz direct flight if I book return flight and that option disappears as soon as I change to one way?!? What a sneaky way from the airline Swiss! Guess what? 😉 I did book additionally return flight too, just to have the direct flight to Graz but I am going back by train!!! 😎 So on that day you will hear in Graz at the airport the following statement: 🔊 🔊 🔊 “This is the final boarding call for passenger Ludmilla Derr booked on flight XYZ to Zurich. Please proceed to gate xyz immediately.” 🔊 🔊 🔊 And I couldn’t care less because at that time I will be already in Zurich arrived via train in the most sustainable way possible 🙏😁🙏 Not because I am perfect. But just because I make my choice. No, it is not black and white. The 'Destination Airport'. On reading this fascinating report from AeroCloud proposing an 'airport blueprint', I immediately thought of the 'third place', a placemaking and sociological concept I first heard about while studying for my Masters (a few moons ago!) The 'third place' refers to somewhere outside the home (first place) and work (second place) and described by the authors in an article from the University of Chicago, as a place 'where we can interact with members of our community and even turn strangers into friends. At a third place, you might go to hang out with your friends, you might run into acquaintances by chance, or you might meet people you have never encountered before.' Should airports start thinking about themselves more as a destination, a 'third place' where people can just go to spend time, relax, work, or be part of a community that doesn't necessarily involve flying? Some airports already do this well, for example, Munich Airport International holds spectacular Christmas markets, making use of an easily accessible, large landside area that could easily go unused.
