Yesterday, I woke up in the middle of the night craving nachos. I grabbed my phone, desperately looking for a food joint that could whip up a nacho plate at this hour. But then... My app got stuck 😒. And while I was waiting for it to reload so I could redo my payment, it took 20 minutes to restart and then again got stuck at the payment page. And that made me so frustrated that I texted their support, "If you need any help related to your nasty and slow website – I will do it for freeee. Please just help me get my Nachos, Man." And then I attached a document that could help them run their app faster, and I could place my order, huh. This can improve the initial load time, especially for larger apps. 👉 Stuck and Restarting Pages: ◾ Error Handling: Implement proper error handling to prevent crashes and unexpected behavior. Log errors to help with debugging. ◾ Robust Network Handling: Gracefully handle network timeouts and connection failures. Provide informative error messages to the user. ◾ Resource Loading Issues: Ensure resources on which the page depends (images, scripts, etc.) are loading correctly. APIs might seem complex—But the reality is, they’re simpler than you think🤔 Think of an API as a waiter in a restaurant. It takes your requests—And brings you what you need from the kitchen. In the digital context: APIs act as a bridge between different apps. Without them, your favorite apps wouldn't function. They let your apps interact and share data with distant servers—And they do it all behind the scenes. Here’s exactly how APIs handle your data requests? - You make a data request - API processes your data request on the server - The server sends back the requested data through the API Simple, right?😎

APIs are everywhere. Even if you aren't a technical person, it's almost a guarantee you are using one. Whether making a purchase on an E-Commerce site, downloading Candy Crush through Google Play, or applying through a job on LinkedIn you are using an API. To sum up what an API is, it essentially is an interface enabling two programs to communicate. Very frequently these programs can be client-side, or what the user interacts with, and server-side, which is the backend that end users cannot (and should not) see. When you are playing Candy Crush you are interacting with the client side. Buying gold bars is an interaction done on throughout the server side - the end-user should not know anything about the processing except they pay this much and get this many gold bars. Server side needs to be SECURE. Logging in with a password isn't enough. Many APIs use some form of token authorizations such as OpenID or OAuth. Why tokens? They are encrypted, provide security for multiple users, provide scope (certain roles can access certain functionality), and also expire (but can be refreshed). Not all bugs are created equal. Here are some bugs that directly cost their companies money: 1. I lived in an apartment with a dry cleaning service, controlled through an app. Whenever I tried to make an account, the app crashed. I did my dry cleaning somewhere else. 2. Airline kept rejecting my credit card. I opened it in devtools and saw that the validation was passing but the website was crashing on [[object object]]. I used a different airline. 3. Friend tried to reserve a hotel, but the "submit" button never rendered. 4. I wanted to buy one thing from a grocery store, but all of the lines were super long because the checkout systems had crashed. I left without buying anything. 5. Different friend's gym wouldn't let *anyone* book classes. The trainers just gave everyone free classes. When asked about expensive bugs, we usually think of "Ariane rocket exploded" or "Knight Capital went under". But any bug that keeps customers from giving you money is an "expensive bug". Understand your company's critical path and make absolutely sure it's airtight. What expensive bugs have you encountered?

One of our customers recently asked if we could track every single action a user takes—down to the last click. At first, I was puzzled, wondering why they needed such a high level of monitoring for their staff. It quickly became clear, though, that this was simply about meeting a requirement on one of their vendor checklists, especially given their highly regulated industry. Reluctantly, we updated the app to include comprehensive logging at each interaction point, allowing them to "check their box." Over time, we realized this was one of the best improvements we've made to the app. Not only is it a neat feature, but it's also saved our development and support teams countless hours. Instead of guessing what might have happened when a user reports that something "doesn’t work" or "is slow," the logs provide a clear trail of actions. This helps us recreate and resolve issues much faster. We've even discovered instances where users blamed the software when, in reality, they hadn't even used it! As users, what do you think—does logging user activity for troubleshooting purposes seem like a good idea or a bad one?

I see your website not loading fast ? hmm 🤔 Ever heard about Code Splitting ? No, read on "Serve only what's needed", When you dine out at a restaurant, you don't get all your orders at once right? You have starter 🍟 , then main course and drinks, and then at last sweets/ice cream 🍨 Apply same thing to the code -> "Load only what user needs", First load the home page, from there load only where the user goes. By loading I mean get the files from the server. Without code splitting, we are asking our browser this, "Hey, you idle ? Here is my 16mb js file that is needed for all of my 100 pages of app load it", with code splitting we load only the chunk we need.
