That’s a wrap for an incredible weekend with @CustomerTimes at their Innovation Day in Miami followed with the Formula One Miami GP. While I am heading back home to Geneva after this US trip including my passage in New York, what can I share? First let’s start with the AI topic where it was amazing to be with different industries and data scientists and MLOps experts to dive in the possibilities of these emerging technologies. Definitely pharma is still perceived as a mountain with a sleeping giant in it, contemplating a world moving faster than they can anticipate. Real world example of AI usage from the automotive industry but also F1 itself showcase that this a culture, people and finally a data issue. Forcing ourselves to make it adoptable, transparent and scalable is hard as we are stretched by the shiny object but my 2 cents was to always think what’s concretely is done to impact peoples and businesses. I am worried when I see commercial ops playing with tools without asking themselves are capturing market shares? Sales? A new positionniez? Instead I see excitement for generating videos, text and images. Yes there is a model to create value for commercial operations but as I like to remind it, the destination is growthand behavior change, not deploying AI to check the box and please the board room. This doesn’t concern obviously startups or pure players but more regulated corporations. Finally seeing these tools progressing fast is a blessing. It means we can focus our energy on better and bigger topics while our decisions are crisper. Automation of work is a good thing. Automating decision is still for me a puzzle as regulators haven’t catched up the consequences of it yet. Not all decisions have consequences but acascade of automated decisions might be something worth governing especially in unstructured environment. Anyway it is a large topic with multiples views but it is healthy to structure the conversation beyond the hype.
