One of India's most premier institute is struggling to provide placements to its students. What can we expect from a private college in India? The acceptance rate of IIT Bombay, the most selective, is only 880 students (or 0.2%) of the total applicants. The recession is no longer a joke, as the younger generation finds it very difficult to enter the industry as fresher. Please share your thoughts on this situation and advice/tips to overcome it #Recession #engineering #IIT #corporate #IT

Unplaced students are dealing with stress, anxiety and hopelessness staring at the bleak future prospects due to the poor job placement scenario. Earnest appeal to various stakeholders: To, Parents: Please provide "emotional support" to your child who might not be placed yet or might have not received very high package. Please back them up emotionally. To, Alumni: Please provide career related guidance to the jobseekers. Best would be if you could give referrals. Your help will be most appreciated. To, IITs: Please allow the unplaced students to sit in the next placement season. They deserve a second chance. Hopefully hiring scenario will improve by then. Also, please leverage 30,000-50,000 alumni base to get work opportunities for the unplaced students. To, Students: Please try to accept a job offer as getting employed is more important in a down market than maximising CTC which is done in up market. Improve CV, skills levels, learn to do networking and seek job stability over high CTC initially. First gain experience and visibility in job. Value will come later. Don't chase savings in first job in a down market. Market changes with time. Down market this year can change into Up market later. Make "good" decisions as per market cycles. Hon. 🌻From being freshers to "organizing Freshers" what an incredible full-circle moment🌻 Just a year ago, we were the ones nervously stepping into the unknown, excited for all the new experiences college had to offer. Now, we've gone from that wide-eyed batch to the ones working behind the scenes to "organize Gargi College Freshers’ 2024". It's a responsibility we don’t take lightly, as we want to create the same magic for the new students that we felt on our Freshers' Day. This transformation—from being guided to now being the guides—has been eye-opening. It's taught us the importance of leadership, teamwork, and giving back to the community that welcomed us so warmly. Here’s what we want the freshers to take away: 👉Welcome the new journey: Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone—this is your time to grow. 👉Build lasting connections: The friendships you make here will stay with you long after college ends. 👉Stay engaged: Make the most of every opportunity; college is about learning, but also about the experiences you collect along the way. 👉Be yourself: This is a new chapter, so embrace who you are and don’t hesitate to showcase your uniqueness. From being freshers to now "organizing Freshers", it’s been a rewarding journey. Tomorrow, as everything falls into place, we hope to create unforgettable memories for the new batch, just as our seniors did for us. How was your experience as freshers? #gargicollege #universityofdelhi #du #freshers

IIT Bombay could not give jobs to 25% of its graduates 38% of IITian across 23 campuses are unemployed. Most of the IIMs are struggling to get placements for their students. The story is more dire for other colleges and other streams in India. Several studies have indicated that only 1 in 4 MBAs, 1 in 5 engineers, and 1 in 10 graduates are employable. I can relate to this firsthand as we interview hundreds of candidates year-round for various fresher positions. Both educational institutions and, more importantly, the young graduating students must make a massive effort to skill themselves so that they are employable. It is high time that higher educational institutions move away from irrelevant curriculums and learning methodologies that will not benefit the students. A paradigm shift is also needed in the mindset of young job seekers. Most of them want to have the top remunerations without exhibiting an intent to work hard, take ownership, and perform. #employmentcrisis #jobs #workethics #careers #highereducation #reality

Here's a post for the losers ! Persons who don't get what they want btw Hi Freshers. Welcome to Delhi University. Many of you landed at your dream college and many have not but Know this one thing maybe your friends are studying in better facilities & environment. But don't let this thought shake your confidence in yourself. So now how to enjoy what you have • Join society - join the society of your interest, meet like minded people and Do what you really want to. • Make Friends - Those you are from other states may find delhi a bit strange and crowded but believe me when I say that this crowd will not bother you when you will have friends. • Explore - Go on trips(which I always postpone😅) explore places with your group and this is Delhi there's a lot to see out there. • Try new things - Do stuff which you don't know how to do. Strange advice but try this participate in different competitions and enjoy that rush feeling. I hope this helps freshers as well as old ones who don't like college that much🙃 @Seniors share your advice for freshers in comment 👇
