Why Are Brands Still Doing In-House Fulfillment When the Giants Are Using 3PLs? Shopify acquired Deliverr Inc., then sold its entire logistics arm to Flexport, a 3PL provider. They couldn't balance building a platform and managing logistics. SHEIN, which now offers 'Supply Chain As A Service,' didn't build out its own network of 3PLs; it just partnered with Flexport. Even TikTok doesn't actually fulfill orders for its shop. Instead, it partnered with ShipBob and Huboo (Avoiding Shopify's mistake). Scaling fulfillment is no joke, and 3PLs are experts. So, why are some brands still clinging to in-house fulfillment? Managing inventory, warehousing, and shipping is a complex beast. A good 3PL can handle everything, freeing you up to focus on what you do best: building your brand and selling amazing products. Is in-house fulfillment ever a good idea? Sure, for very specific situations. But for most growing brands, a 3PL partnership is the smarter move.

𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹 Private label sellers create branded products to sell on Amazon but are labeled and marketed under Amazon's brand. This allows Amazon to control the entire process. Private labeling is often the most expensive method. 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲 Wholesalers purchase the existing branded products in bulk directly from the brand or authentic distributors. They do not need to create new product listings. It is a less expensive form and requires minimum investment. 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 Sourcing products from retailers at lower prices and then reselling these products on Amazon at high prices taking advantage of it. 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 In this Amazon sellers do not keep their products but instead to fulfill customer's orders they get products at low prices from other websites.

TikTok Shop Fulfillment Update: Recently, On April 20th, TikTok Shop announced a new policy regarding dispatch time. According to this update, starting from May 20th, sellers will have to dispatch orders within 2 business days, whereas previously it was 3 business days. This update will mainly affect dropshippers who rely on third-party sites for tracking. There is still time to consider alternative options such as private label/white label/wholesale, or Another solution for dropshippers is to order inventory in bulk of their top-selling products and store it in third-party 3PL warehouses. They can then use these warehouses for fulfillment.
