Delivering our expertise and insights (IV) Excited and honored to have participated in a special panel during the Global Compact Network Hellas members' event, discussing key topics around double materiality and the CSRD directive. In today’s evolving business landscape, understanding double materiality is crucial for companies aiming to align financial success with genuine social and environmental impact. During the discussion, I shared my perspectives on how companies can transition from passive compliance to becoming active drivers of sustainability—creating true value not only for shareholders but for all stakeholders. A huge thank you to the Global Compact Network Hellas for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful conversation. Special appreciation goes out to my co-panelist, Stavroula Aggelopoulou for her insightful contributions and the engaging dialogue we shared. Below are key insights from my statements on the benefits of a Double Materiality Assessment (DMA): - Understanding Real Impacts: DMA confronts companies with their true environmental, human and human rights impacts, highlighting risks and opportunities that may not have been previously recognised and are important for their sustainability in the future. - Becoming Active Agents: DMA makes companies to change their perspective, understanding the positive or negative impact they have tend to deal with or exploit it respectively. Through this process they become active agents of change from passive observers of impacts - Collaboration with Stakeholders: Through DMA companies are discovering that to have a clear picture of their impact, is critical to work with all their key stakeholders, from employees to local communities. - Link to Business Growth: DMA links Sustainable Development Strategy with Business Development and Performance. The improvement of environmental and social indicators (e.g. carbon reduction or improving employee well-being) related to impact management can contribute to economic sustainability and competitive advantage. - Rethinking Corporate Responsibility: DMA enables companies to rethink the concept of corporate responsibility, not as a communication practice but as a real commitment to create value for all stakeholders. This process leads to the creation of a more resilient and responsible business model, which is the main goal of the CSRD. - Aligning with Social and Environmental Demands: DMA acts as a compass that guides companies towards adopting policies and practices that are in line with modern social and environmental requirements. The bottom line is that real success is not only measured by economic indicators, but by the positive impact on the planet and the people around us. #Sustainability #DoubleMateriality #CSRD #UNGlobalCompact #CorporateResponsibility #SustainableFuture #Integratedreporting #Integratedthinking #SustainableDevelopment

The release of the "Rewiring for Success" report provides a dynamic blueprint for integrated and strategic action across government and the corporate and financial sectors, grounded in citizens' priorities. A collaboration between BRAE, Capitals Coalition, CETEx (Centre for Economic Transition Expertise), ICAEW, Value Balancing Alliance and Rewired Earth, it is part of a work stream that aims to support coherence in the now cacophonous sustainability space. Our Executive Director Steve Kenzie is delivering a strategy keynote alongside Renata Jungo Brüngger and Eliot Whittington. ‘We do need to look at some of the incentives that are systemic right now, that are actually actively discouraging sustainable choices. I think there's much to be done by government, civil society and academia to start creating more of the conditions to enable sustainability.’ -Steve Kenzie #RBEU #CorporateSustainability

Pete Westall, Chief Value Officer at Midcounties UK, and I were honored to be invited by Jacques DEBRY and Cooperatives Europe as panelists to discuss “Cooperatives and Purpose-Driven Companies Facing Environmental and Social Challenges.” It was inspiring to see how we both approached ESG from different perspectives—Peter from a cooperative angle and me from a business strategy viewpoint—and yet arrived at the same conclusions. ESG is often seen as a source of tension for enterprises due to additional reporting requirements (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD), significant investments in time, new competencies, and money. However, more importantly, it represents a valuable opportunity to rethink what makes your enterprise unique, refine its mission, and determine which aspects of ESG to embrace to create value for key stakeholders (members, employees, consumers, etc.) and strengthen corporate identity. In this journey, five key elements are essential: - Authenticity: Be true to yourself; don’t pretend to be someone else. - Alignment: Ensure your mission, brand identity, and ESG actions are aligned. - Transparency: Share both your successes and areas that need improvement. - Consistency: Over time, and between what you say and what you do. Prioritization: Focus on a few ambitious, concrete targets and measure progress. Thank you, Peter, for this thought-provoking and enriching debate with the audience and thank you Filip De Rycke for the moderation! #CooperativesEurope #Febecoop #ESG #CSR #CorporateSustainability #CSRD

🌍 I am thrilled to share that I have had the incredible opportunity to contribute to the report on "Investors, ESG, and Human Rights" by the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights. This report, which will be formally presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council on June 25 or 26, 2024, clarifies the responsibilities of investors in respecting human rights under the Guiding #Principles on Business and Human Rights. It also provides guidance on how investors can align their environmental, social, governance (ESG), and sustainability approaches with these responsibilities. 🔍 Specifically, my contribution focused on the role of #investors in the #energy sector and the importance of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in #regulating and enforcing the necessary #reporting by companies to ensure that investors have the information needed to guarantee respect for human rights. ✨ This accomplishment would not have been possible without the support and mentorship of Stéphane Brabant, Senior Partner at Trinity International. His guidance and experience were key in shaping our insights and contributions on this report. 📢 I encourage everyone to watch the presentation of the report, which will be livestreamed via United Nations Web TV, and to disseminate the findings widely. I believe this report will be a valuable resource in our collective efforts to promote sustainable and responsible business practices. #UN #HumanRights #ESG #Sustainability #Investors #EnergySector #ISSB #UNHRC Isabelle TRACQ-SENGEISSEN, Jean-Roch Varon, Celine Eydieu-Boutté, Alexis Gazzo, Philippe Aubain, Laurent Vitse, Benoit Schumacher, Alexandre Resten, Christian Mion, Moez Ajmi, Jean-Gabriel Robert, Camille Lambert

The last Women and Climate event was a Systems thinking workshop. A bit different and with a smaller turnout, which I understand considering systems thinking is something that can be hard to understand and even harder to implement in organisations. But I love how the energy was again there! 💚 Some women have been on every single Women and Climate event so far, which I really really appreciate! 🧠 To describe Systems thinking more simply (and briefly): ✅ holistic thinking, which is good for understanding the "why". It helps us to move from a siloed view, because organisations aren't a closed system with a series of departments and no connection between them or any external entity. ✅ a move from EGO-system to ECO-system thinking. We probably all agree, we need that. Thank you Darija Kuzelj Pavlovic for leading the event and Impact Hub Ljubljana for hosting us again.
