📉 Türkiye's Renewable Energy Transition: Falling Behind Global Leaders A recent study by Compare the Market Australia has highlighted Türkiye’s lagging position in the global renewable energy race. By 2028, Türkiye is expected to generate only 2.48 TWh of renewable energy per million people, placing it near the bottom of the list of 39 developed nations. The country’s net zero target is set for 2053, significantly later than many global peers. In comparison, European nations like Finland and Sweden, with much more ambitious targets (2035 and 2045, respectively), are projected to generate up to 13.57 TWh per million people by 2028. These countries have embraced more aggressive renewable energy policies and investments, particularly in wind and solar power, allowing them to lead the charge in the shift to sustainable energy. For Türkiye, this serves as a critical juncture to reassess and strengthen its renewable energy strategy. The nation's energy landscape must evolve rapidly if it is to meet future energy demands, reduce carbon emissions, and position itself as a competitive player in the global market. Enhanced investment in infrastructure, coupled with more aggressive climate policies, will be vital to closing the gap. #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #NetZero #CleanEnergy #TurkeyEnergyStrategy #GlobalEnergyTransition Renewable Energy Magazine pv magazine Global Compare the Market Australia
