Sport and Community Engagement go hand in hand. But on the surface it doesn't seem apparent. Dig down and at every level of sport there is a need and a desire for more and better community engagement. While sometimes not in the traditional sense, as can be very event based, even at these events so much engagement can be achieved more than just kicking, hitting or shooting a ball, puck... urm shuttlecock for the first time. Three years ago, I took a leap of faith and launched We Report Digital Media Network, a platform dedicated to social issues, current affairs, and documentaries. I had big dreams of making a real impact, and I rallied a few classmates to join me in this venture. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. They left early on, and the platform ultimately flopped. While it was disappointing, I didn't let the setback discourage me. The time invested was valuable, and I knew I could learn from the experience. After taking a couple of years to recharge and reflect, working as a sports desk journalist for three years reignited my entrepreneurial spirit, and I decided to take another chance. Early this year, I tapped into my knowledge of Pakistan's vibrant sports culture, particularly the fervor for cricket, and reimagined We Report as a sports communication platform for Facebook. Leveraging the existing brand name and building upon my previous experience, I poured my energy into creating a visually appealing Facebook page filled with engaging news, stats, analysis, and more. A month in, the growth was promising, with our Facebook page crossing 15 million in organic reach. This was enough to bring on another team member. Today, just two months after launch, we've hit an incredible milestone of 100,000 followers on Facebook! This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering belief in the power of sports to unite and inspire. But this is just the beginning. My vision for We Report Sport is far-reaching. We'll be expanding our network of sports reporters across different cities, launching our presence on Twitter (now called X), Threads, and YouTube, and developing a dedicated podcast to reach even more passionate sports fans. This journey has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The lessons learned and the resilience gained have shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today. I'm incredibly grateful for the support of my friends, family, and the ever-growing We Report Sport community. Together, we're building something truly special, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!
