VALE Neville Henderson, OAM, JP 1947 – 2024 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of my father, Neville Henderson, this morning. Neville began his remarkable 50-year career in the insurance industry in 1964 with Hartford Insurance in Newcastle. In 1971, his career took him to Papua New Guinea, where he managed the Rabaul office of Southern Pacific Insurance. Throughout his underwriting journey, he worked with Hartford Insurance, Southern Pacific, Cornhill Insurance, Gibbs Bright, Dalgety, and FAI—where I was fortunate to begin my own career alongside him. In his later years, Neville transitioned to insurance broking, concluding his distinguished career at AEI Transport in 2013. Beyond his professional achievements, Neville was a devoted servant of the community. His dedication to youth programs and volunteer initiatives earned him the prestigious Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2014, a testament to his selflessness and enduring impact. A funeral service to honour Neville’s extraordinary life will be held on Friday, 31 January 2025. Further details will be shared in due course. Neville’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to others will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

1wCondolences Geoff and family. I knew your father every well, always smiling and making jokes. His knowledge of the industry including the rural customers needs and requirements was one of the best within the industry. My father-in-law Kaye Pearce was GM of Union Assurance Ltd (Director of Dalgerty Holdings) always had high regards for your father and would often ask me how is “Nev” going well after he retired. Likewise my wife Cathy, worked directly with Nev at the Union A for a number of years and still remembers his family photos on his desk in the office (yes your baby photos) and she also sends you and your family her love and prayers
