Highlight of the Year (5/6): CUES hackathons and Part I-II transition talk This week’s highlight gives a glimpse into the hackathons organised by some of our sponsors and Part I-II transition talk. Part I-II Transition Talk: About 10 Part IIA and IIB engineers talked about their experiences on the modules in a panel. It was then followed by a round of questions from the audience and an informal chat subsequently where the audience could speak to the panel individually. Day 83 : Anyhow i missed the Inaugral session of Trimester 2 yesterday and i watched it today . Thrilled to share some highlights from my time at The Aerospace Corporation, this summer where I had the opportunity to dive into some truly cutting-edge projects. One of my key achievements was being a part of the rapid product ideation, development, and success of a satellite demonstration, where I had the chance to get hands-on with the tech stack, manually installing, configuring, and debugging the I2C-Bus and connecting IMUs to an embedded Linux system at the kernel level. Then containerizing the telemetry gathering script using Docker and powering the onboard computing with a Raspberry Pi cluster deployed on Kubernetes, allowing the satellite to maintain the power of hardware, but retain the flexibility of software! My role extended into applying probabilistic techniques to large language models, creating Bayesian Networks and performing probabilistic inference using tools like Pyro and PyTorch. Additionally, I tackled some internal challenges with large language model transformers, identifying issues like improper positional encoding and deficient multi-headed attention score matrices. A particularly proud moment was when I increased our threat detection response time by 500% by replacing an evolutionary algorithm with a Q-Learning algorithm for an automated assurance framework. This was part of the ongoing efforts in threat modeling using digital twins. A special shoutout to Stephen Blanchette Jr., my manager, who provided invaluable guidance, Nehal Desai, a fantastic mentor and colleague, and Chris Bailey, whose mentorship and organization of my El Segundo trip were instrumental in my success.
