It was lovely hosting the Cambridge Network's Sustainability Peer Group at Bidwells cafe in our Cambridge office. We heard an excellent presentation from Nigel Clark, Cambridge Marketing College on the topic of "Sustainability standards and certifications: what do they all mean, which ones should you sign up to and how do you use them to achieve your organisation's sustainability goals?" We discussed how the sustainability reporting landscape has changed over the last 20 years. Back in 2004, sustainability was the purvey of only the wealthiest and most progressive companies; it's now a must for everyone. This comes with a heavy burden on reporting and disclosure, sometimes to the detriment of making the changes required to deliver the intended outcomes. What is clear is that, whilst there is still so much to do, there are far more of us involved, whether in dedicated or part roles. We all believe in transforming our businesses and those of others for the betterment of our society, environment, and economy. We’re excited to share record-breaking results for the 2024 financial year! With our strategy focused on People, Planet, Prosperity, and Partnerships, the support of our dedicated team, we are delivering positive outcomes and driving sustainable success for Marlborough. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 🔹 Increasing our FTE to 102 to ensure we have the skills and capacity to meet the needs of our 24/7 operations and to support the industries we serve. 🔹 Major progress towards our vision to become an environmentally restorative port, including International Clean Marina certification for all three marinas and establishment of regenerative native forest at Shakespeare Bay. 🔹 A 12% reduction in net emissions, continuing our carbon reduction journey, and a waste diversion rate from landfill of 92%. 🔹 $4.5 million dividend returned to our shareholder, underpinned by strong performance across all operations - the highest in a decade and ultimately benefitting all of Marlborough. 🔹 Strengthened stakeholder and community partnerships, and the establishment of a kawenata with manawhenua iwi for Waitohi and Waikawa, Te Ātiawa o te Waka a Maui.
