There are different definitions or perspectives to the word “journey” - passage from one place to another; challenges, extreme highs and lows, celebrations, special moments and memories that define our experience as a human. It is these events, planned or unexpected, that impact our travels and define our purpose. A journey can make one's mind more open to challenges and opportunities in life and may involve first healing and affirming the ego so that future positive states are experienced. Each of these definitions or perspectives holds a truth to where I am at today - the end of a leg of my career journey with April 30 being my last day with SNDL (formerly Sundial Growers) which has challenged me in many ways (mentally, physically, ethically and professionally), has stripped me of my ego and confidence and rebuilt with more strength, determination and integrity with extreme lows and highs and (pun intended in this industry but also literally), and has now opened new career opportunities for me to utilize these experiences in to educate, mentor and build upon in the next leg of the journey. I have made many lasting friendships in this journey and hold immense respect for the team that I have worked with over these almost 7 years to build the organization to the state and status we have achieved today. This includes the many vendors and partners that have been with the organization during this time - to name a few: ATB Financial, Marsh, Morgan Stanley, McCarthy Tétrault , Robert Half and Robert Half Executive Search. , Shearman & Sterling LLP , Corpay, Town of Olds We will see where the next inspiration or opportunity arises to challenge me in the next leg of another journey.

I joined Trace to educate myself and expand the scope of my climate action from not just personal, but to professional and beyond. 🎢 The past 9 months have been exactly that. A rollercoaster of learning, collaborating, building, debating, connecting and growing with an incredible collection of humans. I’m so grateful to Trace | Certified B Corp™ for letting me be a part of their story.  Going forward, I’m not the right fit for the role that Trace needs - so this ride's over, but the adventure has just begun! 🤓 I've been working to solidify the unique set of skills and value I bring to the table, and more importantly, confidently identify the areas that don’t align with my future passions and aspirations.  So what's next? Explore other full-time roles in purposeful and innovative startups? Consider high-impact roles in scale-up/mature organisations? Start my own thing - contracting/consulting? Double down on building a true multi-hyphenate portfolio career that does a bit of everything? 🤷🏽♂️ tbh idk - onwards and upwards then downwards and sidewards then roundwards and…you get the jist. 

Ready for Another Career Pivot: From Commando to Corporate – What’s Next?   Reflecting on my career so far, I’m incredibly proud of the journey. Transitioning from Marine to Finance demanded a ton of adaptability and grit (I certainly wasn’t hired for my math skills!). It felt like jumping from one extreme of the career spectrum to the other.   Being a Marine had its challenges, but the civilian world wasn’t a walk in the park either. Yet, the combo of both has allowed me to enjoy much professional growth. After 7 years, though, I’m ready to embrace a new challenge and kickstart my next adventure.   Me On the Left: Highly motivated Proud Moderate Income Lots of time outside my comfort zone Voted "Best Looking" in the unit (3 years running 😉) Always had interesting stories to share   Me On the Right: Bored Big fancy job title High Income Lots of time in a predictable office routine Lost the spark, gained a double chin Zero interesting stories for the pub   It’s time to step back out of my comfort zone and tackle the next chapter. Thank you to everyone who checked in last week—it was a great chance to catch up.   If you know of any exciting opportunities on the horizon, please let me know! It would allow me to spend less time hidden away from my loved ones on evenings and weekends trying to navigate HR algorithms, and more time reconnecting with my tribe.

Top secrets of my career: I took 24 years to start my own business venture by experiencing multiple roles & responsibilities by working favourable and non-favourable teammates. I work with my values and no compromise with that value system which I learned from my family. To start my own business venture was in my mind since my business graduation study. I am also sharing who I am: 1. Always preferred a new segment & industry. 2. No fear by working with new people & industry. 3. No relationship with Chaploos / buttering type of professionals, kept them away. 4. Never beg for salary hikes, promotion, incentives. 5. No involvement in corporate politics. 6. Never give up and never say die, try open new opportunities. 7. Demanding continuously my rights & money and I will recover it. 8. Never intend to work again with the company where I worked. 9. Minimal connect them the professionals where I worked even no discussion on company. 10. I respect & honour honest people and have faith & trust with them always even they break relationship. 11. I support people even I know that what he did with me without any greed. 12. I provide space and have a great flexibility to fit in any corporate culture. 13. I am not interested in making many friends but I like to be a friend of selective, trustworthy and like minded people for the long term/ can say never ending friendship. 14. My nature & habits are "Down To Earth, No Pomp & Show" 15. And the best part of my life is "Hunger To Learn & Earn" 16. I am always "Open To Work" by learning new skills, knowledge and expertise

Nobody wants to be job searching. If we all had our way, we could just shop for our next job on Revolve and get it delivered in 2 days, with free return obvs Butttttt it’s not that simple. It takes a lot of time, and a lot of work, and it’s tempting just to go for the first thing that comes available. But accepting a job offer is going to have a huge impact on your life, probably for a couple of years, and it should be a strategic, thoughtful decision. The best thing you can do to find a new job quickly, without sacrificing on your career goals, is to be crystal clear on what you want. Manifestation is real y’all, and knowing exactly what you want help you quickly move on from things that aren’t right for you.

Retrenchment, or restructuring, it is an incredibly hard road to navigate as a human being. Having been through it once in my career, I can tell you that it takes an emotional toll on a person - even though it’s hardly ever personal, it is very hard to separate the role from the individual, your self-worth is deeply impacted, not to mention the financial implications that might lie ahead. I have seen many people, friends impacted and having walked this stony road myself many years ago, I also learned to separate the person from the role, that organizations are built to outlast people, to expect some challenging days and be open to career changes, finding joy, purpose and growth in new work. Take a leap of faith, it builds your confidence, you can do what you think you could not do. Always remember our professional career doesn't define our worth. My commitment is to be a sounding board if you need somebody to talk to, to share your work-seeking posts, particularly if I know you personally and I challenge my network to do the same. I am here for you. Everybody needs somebody at some point. Reach out. Perhaps I or my network are the person who can change someone’s future - to help them grow and see things differently ♥️

After graduating, I struggled to find a job for a while. In 2012, a supposed Chief near Sakumono promised me and some friends jobs at Cocoboard if we each paid him 400 GHS. Desperate, I scraped together the money, but it was all a scam‼️ That experience taught me two valuable lessons: 1️⃣Never blindly trust anyone, especially when it comes to job opportunities. Put your faith in God, not people. 2️⃣While waiting for your breakthrough, always be preparing yourself. Learn new skills, network, and apply for jobs. Opportunities come to those who are ready. Though the job hunt was frustrating and discouraging at times, I never gave up. I kept pushing forward, learning and growing. And eventually, my persistence paid off. ❇️If you are in a tough season of searching, don't lose hope. 💡Keep preparing, keep applying, keep trusting God. ❤️Your breakthrough is coming. 🤔✨ Has your career felt more like a squiggly line than a straight path? Mine definitely has! Between moving countries, facing a global pandemic and dealing with redundancy it’s hard to imagine a career without a few unexpected turns. Looking back, every curve has brought me new skills and perspectives—and I’ve come to appreciate the zigzags.   ❤️💡 Earlier this year, I was at a business event, where a question about “squiggly careers” stuck with me. I’d been in one of those “find your one passion” moments, but the discussion reminded me that it’s not always about being one dimensional. Sometimes, it’s just about being open to where life leads.   🏠📲 For me right now, this journey means staying connected to the property industry, where I’ve got years of experience and a sharp eye on the Scottish market. But it also means leaning into other skills I love, like sales, strategy and building relationships. That’s why I’m excited to be stepping into a Client Partner role at a tech agency, where I can help businesses grow in ways I had never imagined!   💫 It takes time to be comfortable with a non-linear career, but honestly, when life throws you curveballs, you learn to adapt. I’ve been lucky to work with people who recognise the value of that versatility. Life is unpredictable and there’s something powerful about bringing a mix of experiences to the table!
