A common concern I hear, especially from established, referral-based, relationship-based businesses is: "We have an ideal kind of client we are the right fit for and to which we bring the most value. We don't want our website to get lots of traffic from Google and get swamped with calls." That's a well-founded concern. Knowing who you're the right fit for and who you're not is key. The answer is to use your website as the pre-qualification filter, before they even pick up the phone. Write, position and design your website to speak directly to your ideal clients. This allows your website visitors to pre-qualify themselves, before you ever hear from them.

One simple way to get more leads from your website (often overlooked): Put a contact form at the bottom of your page. Most businesses have a separate page with a contact form and most of the time it is hard to find it. You are losing leads because of it. Imagine someone visiting your site: • They visit it. • Read the content. • Scroll down ready to convert. And then they can't find the contact form. They get confused and leave. Instead, put a contact form in your footer too. You have way more chances to convert them. We live in a world of distractions. Holding attention is getting harder so think about how you can hold the attention of the visitor from when they land on your website to the contact form. Searching for a contact form is a distraction. The less distractions, the better. Make it smooth. P.S. Not getting enough enquiries through your website contact form? Here's one possible reason: 🚨Too much friction. If you're making your website users jump through multiple hoops just to get in touch with you, you're creating friction, and you'll be severely decreasing the number of leads through your contact form. You might have heard the advice to pre-qualify leads by creating an application form with in-depth questions, so that you can be sure it's worth following up (or not) with potential leads, and to deter time-wasters. You might have been told to give visitors various options to select, so that they can choose the service that best suits them and you can start to build up a picture of their needs. This is great advice IF you're already getting plenty of enquiries through your website already. If not, you need to make it as simple and easy as possible for people to get in touch with you. Reducing friction means reducing the number of clicks, scrolls, and decisions the website visitor has to make.
