What is it about Duolingo that has gotten its audience SO addicted? It’s a total game-changer, and here’s why: Do you know 'Hooked' by Nir Eyal? Duolingo is a big follower of the principles in the book! My friend in the USA has been hooked for 120 days straight, learning a language that he might never need in his life. Yet, he’s a loyal paying customer, stacking up "coins'' with zero clue on what to do with them! (Ahem! Remind you of any other coins?!) The monthly or daily active users of Duolingo are through the roof! The engagement’s insane. Let’s crack their code: > Duolingo nails the job of making language learning fun, accessible, and effective without being a big drain on time or money. They have 100+ courses across 40+ languages, it’s amazing in the education landscape. Gamification is how they are driving stickiness. > The freemium model coupled with a focus on engagement, revenue, and user experience drives Duolingo’s success. Their team's focus on the Retention Rate is the key – keeping users engaged brings in more paying subscribers. > Their mantra? Continuous improvement. They live and breathe product-led growth, constantly testing and optimizing every aspect. With a culture that encourages experimentation and data-driven decisions, they aim for a 1% weekly enhancement. That’s setting tiny goals that people are encouraged to reach every time because it’s so realistic. > Duolingo also knows that there’s not just one user type and they have to cater to different types of people. Richard A. Bartle, a prominent game researcher, identified four player types: Achievers, Explorers, Socialisers, and Killers. And guess what? Duolingo’s got a game plan for each. ✅For Achievers: They love racking up points and badges. Duolingo targets them with level points, XP scores, leaderboards, and leagues. And the progress they achieve becomes a place for them to flaunt their accomplishments. ✅For Explorers: For people who are not big on points but look forward to new areas to explore in the language they’re learning. Duolingo reveals new levels and categories after each stage of completion. ✅For Socialisers: They look forward to collaborating with other users or their friends. Duolingo lets you connect and track progress with other learners and friends, fostering collaboration and shared achievement. ✅For Killers: They love competition. Duolingo's leaderboard satisfies them, with special perks for the top spots, while those outside the top ten face demotion, keeping the competitive spirit alive. Duolingo showcases how technology shapes learning. If Duolingo cracked the code, who's next? Imagine other industries adopting this engagement model—skyrocketing customer bases! #strategy #casestudy #edtech

Our Learn Kannada SmartApp, taking inspiration from #DuoLingo, has been a tremendous success with our user base, fostering more engagement and efficient #Kannada learning experiences. It's worth noting that Kannada is not currently supported on Duolingo, making our app a valuable resource for those eager to master the language. Unique to our app is the ability to learn Kannada through other 6 Indian languages—an exclusive feature not offered by any other language-learning application for Indian languages.

The idea of "making rich people pay for the education of rest of the people" is amazing. https://youtu.be/P6FORpg0KVo?feature=shared

What a precise explanation ThinkSchool ! #duolingo has indeed targeted all age groups with it's user-friendly environment and impressive content. Such educational models should be encouraged and are worth spending regular "screen time".

True, very addictive platform. Must say, maintaining learning streaks on Duolingo is better than snapchat streaks. 😝 😝
