We successfully hosted the inaugural Amazon Fulfillment Simulation Symposium (AFSS-2024), a landmark event that united Amazon's simulation science community. This symposium was a significant achievement for the Amazon Worldwide Design Engineering (WWDE) Simulation team, bringing our vision to fruition. The symposium aimed to: Foster collaboration within the Amazon Science community, emphasizing the use of simulation and optimization techniques to inform strategic business decisions; Provide a platform for presenting ideas and results addressing fulfillment-related optimization challenges through simulation; Explore challenges in developing multi-scale simulations across various complexity levels, and Examine advancements in digital twins, emulation, AI-driven simulation, network planning, and optimization strategies. AFSS 2024 showcased Amazon's current simulation technology and set the stage for future developments in AI and machine learning (ML)-based simulation, cloud-based simulation, and ML/RL based optimization for business decisions. We extend our gratitude to all presenters, participants, keynote speakers Timothy L. Jacobs, PhD, PE John Darrow, Prasad Rao,William Bowes, and organizing committee members Weilin Li, Rahul Ramachandran (RR), Abhilash Deori Gandhi Chidambaram for their valuable contributions to this successful event. Thank you Prasad Rao, William Bowes for their support and guidance to elevate simulation science within Amazon Fulfillment to new heights. #AFSS #AmazonScience #AWS #DigitalTwins #GenAI #Simulation #ML #Amazon
