How I’m 𝒑𝒊𝒗𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒓 with LinkedIn (vetted by the LinkedIn team!) 👇 This year was everything I never expected. From getting laid off to picking up design to becoming a storyteller, I had the time to really explore my creative bucket list. Exciting Milestone: 10K Followers on Linkedin! Three months ago, I embarked on my Linkedin journey, desperately searching for job opportunities and randomly adding people for help. But today, I am thrilled to share that my Followers have crossed the 10k mark! Here's a snapshot of my journey: • 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀: - Started by randomly adding connections and seeking job assistance. - Gradually improved my approach and focused on building genuine relationships. • 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: - Began sharing handwritten programming and automotive notes. - Offered valuable resources that helped many of my connections prepare for interviews and enhance their knowledge. - People started noticing my efforts and approached me for notes and guidance. • 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: - Received one paid promotion offer (didn't proceed at that time due to some reasons). - 4-5 recruiters approached me with job opportunities. - My network has significantly contributed to my net worth, both professionally and personally. • 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: - Immensely grateful to all my followers for their support and trust. - Committed to maintaining consistency in sharing valuable resources. - Eager to connect with new people and continue this enriching Linkedin journey. Today I hit 10k followers only 7 months past my goal. It took me many many years of posting to get to this point. Mainly because it’s all organic growth, I sent out very few connection requests. Most will say follower count doesn’t matter. But it’s helped accomplish some cool things: 1. Has helped from a talent pipeline and recruiting standpoint. 2. Has helped me network and meet a lot of great people who help me and I help them as well. 3. I’ve landed consulting gigs and paid posts so LinkedIn has also made me money which is awesome. 4.Lastly and most importantly LinkedIn and my network have been a huge help getting me in front of the hiring manager at my last three roles vs. just being a resume in a stack. Stop thinking about what people are going to say, and just start posting if that’s what you really want to do. Someone out there will learn something from you and that’s all I really care about at the end of the day.

For the last 12 months I’ve ‘job hunt’ coached well over 100 tech leaders. People who were laid off from senior positions when the post Covid bubble burst. I’ve listened to them, supported them, rebranded them and encouraged them to adopt a much more forward thinking job hunting strategy! Lots have secured jobs, but if you’re someone I’ve mentored and still ‘on the market’ I have some great news for you today! The market is definitely moving again….yeah I know I’ve said it before, maybe wishful thinking, but it’s bouncing back, 100% Look, you may not be able to go back in exactly where you left off, but if you’re flexible, which I know you are, you’ll see a lot more opportunities in the coming weeks. Listen, I know I sound like a worn out record….but don’t just apply or hit quick apply….that's not enough. Hunt down your future boss, network and connect with your future coworkers. Hiring managers will be getting hundreds of applications. Be creative, be professional, be proactive!
