Better Futures, an early-stage artificial intelligence focused start-up, has today (Thursday 27 June) announced it has secured €500k in pre-seed funding from angel investors. The company will use the funding to accelerate the roll-out of EVATM, its novel AI Assistant and Platform for engineers and manufacturers. EVATM (Engineering Virtual Assistant) enables engineers and manufacturers to successfully adopt AI in an innovative approach with the potential of 10 times reduction in lead times, costs and associated risks. Better Futures, headquartered at NovaUCD in Dublin, was founded in 2023 by Anthony Mc Loughlin. He has a 15-year background combining data science, rocket science and business development to help manufacturers such as Airbus, Mercedes and Rolls Royce successfully adopt generative design, advanced analytics and AI. Anthony said: "“The adoption of AI into manufacturing and engineering is critically important for all our futures. It is happening but it is very niche and painfully slow. The theory that technological progress inherently contains the seeds of solutions to the problems it creates is associated with the broader principles of self-regulation and adaptive systems in complex systems theory, as well as with notions of technological determinism and path dependency in the field of science and technology studies. Columbia Engineering researchers have developed a tool called DIVID to detect AI-generated videos. DIVID measures the difference between an input image and its diffusion-reconstructed output. This technique helps identify diffusion-generated videos by comparing real-world video frames with those generated by AI. DIVID reconstructs a video and compares it to the original based on the hypothesis that #AI-generated videos will have closely resembling reconstructed frames, unlike human-generated videos. This approach achieved a detection accuracy of up to 93.7% on a benchmark dataset. #startups #innovation #innovationmanager
