A question we often ask guests on Schematic's podcast Monetizing SaaS is "Can you share the experience that’s been most influential in your career?" Lately, there’s been a consistent theme in the answers to this question: "The first time I got to work on pricing..." Working on pricing & billing for a B2B SaaS company seems to often result in career inflection moments for the product managers, engineers, and ops folks who end up spearheading them. 90-second clip from my conversation last week with Jules Boiteux, founder of Roast My Pricing Page. Excited to release the full episode soon!

Is SaaS in trouble? When will the pain end? Should 🐶 Jacco get a fixed slot on our podcast? 🤔 That's just some of the questions I had when Jacco joined us for yet another episode of the revenue formula. Jacco covered four major changes hitting SaaS: 𝐕𝐂: There’s less money 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥: Yay! AI for everyone 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥: We’re less productive (remote) 𝐁𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫: Don’t email me please And they're all hitting at the same time, and fast 😬 So what’s the solution? Applying a modern approach to revenue — run your business like a revenue factory. There’s different production lines, and each line needs to deliver; - Quality (product works) - Growth (can be scaled) - Profit ($$$$) Search for ‘the revenue formula’ on your favorite podcast player to listen.

Quick Question - - Anyone know of a good - newsletter / podcast / Linkedin account / report - that helps you keep up with the Saas/Tech world and specifically the saas/tech sales industry? I am familiar with some that track M&A activity, 30 Minutes to President's Club, and of course familiar with RepVue, but other than that nothing. Any suggestions appreciated! Today on the podcast I share my thoughts around how to become a product manager in the payments and subscriptions space. https://lnkd.in/dmCveWfr Product Management plays an important role in deciding how you successfully monetize your business. Its a path that is not written, but lived through in my opinion. From my experience working in technology over the last two decades, I've shared in this podcast a few things. 1. What is a product manager and what kind of skills do they need to have to be successful (hint: be empathetic, put the customer first and be the internal CEO for your product) 2. How would I go about breaking into product in 2024 (use your network and be a helpful person) 3. How to get involved in payments if you don't have any experience (my take is to look for the teams that make payments or subscriptions happen at your company and be a resource to those teams) Ultimately to break into product management or any role for that matter, I believe that being helpful, being customer-centric and understanding your business will put you into a position where you can drive value.
