When I was Head of Department, GCSE results day was one of my favourite days. Weird, huh? Now I believe there is WAY too much pressure on young people to evidence attainment in a qualification that doesn't actually serve them. There are also teachers feeling real anxiety at this time, knowing they'll need to "explain their results". The reason I loved GCSE results day was because I got to feel genuine pride for the students. And our department GCSEs were usually amazing too so I got to feel proud of myself and my team. We need other areas to feel this pride for our students in our education system. We only have one place to feel that collective pride: academic results. It is way too narrow and puts too much pressure on those involved. We have too few KPIs in schools. Let's celebrate academic achievement, but let's also find other areas of success in our education system. #education #teach #teacher #gcse #student #learn

My aim for every student I work with is to empower them to have an enjoyable learning journey. I want every student to understand how they learn and be in charge of their own study skills. Our school system has become more and more results driven and our teacher's are under an enormous pressure to hit those targets. All students have target grades, predicted grades, flight path grades to name but a few. Many of these grades are predicted at year 7 and actually who's brain is fully formed at 11? Some students have really high grades to achieve and some less so. Either way schools are duty bound to hit or exceed those targets. Teachers don't have time to stop and think, "what is really their true potential". Therefore a student who is in control of their natural learning ability will understand what they are are capable of and not be driven by those predicted grades. #connectivelearning #teacher #students #GCSE

The Study Success Programme has seen many students go from exam disaster to exam success. 🎓📈 Let me tell you about Jake. He was finding it difficult to revise and focus on the GCSEs ahead. His mock exam results were disappointing, and he was beginning to give up trying. 😓📉 His parents signed him up for the programme at the end of year 10, and with support and guidance, he achieved all of his GCSEs with excellent grades. 🎉🏅 The programme showed him what type of learner he was and how to use this natural skill to revise and study HIS way. No more flash cards or mind maps for him. 🧠🚫🗂️ Being on the programme meant he had regular coaching sessions and the encouragement needed to keep going. 🗓️💪 The most amazing thing is that Jake has moved into sixth form doing the subjects he loves and is doing really well. His parents can't believe the transformation in him. 🌟📚 Learning should be enjoyable, and finding your love of learning is the ultimate aim of the programme. ❤️📖 If you are interested, please get in contact. 📩 #StudySuccess #RevisionHelp #LearnFromHome #GCSEPrep #TeenLearning #EducationInvestment

👩🏻🎓Today is GCSE results day for many, a moment filled with nostalgia and contemplation of past educational experiences. While some treasure their school days, others, like myself, encountered challenges along the way. I stumbled through most of my GCSEs and faced failures too. Transitioning to college to study A-Levels presented its own hurdles and uncertainties. Struggling to assimilate and battling old habits, I questioned if traditional education was my calling. Opting to explore a different path, I ventured into the workforce after deciding college was not for me. Hard work has always been my ally, from paper rounds to car washes, I embraced practicality. I struggled to find full time work with little experience under my belt. Feeling lost, I decided to give college another chance, opting for a BTEC program. The shift to coursework-based assessments and a supportive atmosphere made a significant impact. The tutors recognised my potential, listened to me, and cultivated an environment where I could flourish. In the end, persistence paid off, resulting in two Distinctions and a Merit. It underscores the transformative influence of finding the right support and environment for personal growth. Something I strongly believe in. Remember, regardless of today's outcome, you always have the power to chart a new course in life! #EducationJourney #Transformation #Perseverance #GCSEresults
