🚌 The freemium model is a lot like public transport—it’s free (at least in some cities!), reliable, and gets you where you need to go. For many, it’s all they’ll ever need. But if you want more control, flexibility, or advanced features, that’s when it’s worth upgrading to your own car. That’s the idea behind Cookie Information’s freemium CMP plan. It’s free, offering up to 25,000 consents/month, GDPR/CCPA compliance, and seamless integrations like Google Consent Mode v2. It’s the perfect starting point for small businesses, with room to grow when the time is right. 🚏 Hop on here: https://lnkd.in/eCJ8-nk7

It's not been a fun time for the Internet Archive (archive.org) recently. If you're not aware, they were recently sued for copyright infringement (Hachette v. Internet Archive) by several major publishers including HarperCollins and Penguin Random House. Last month, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit confirmed that their Controlled Digital Lending (CDL) program (allowing the digital lending of scanned books) was not fair use. They've also been DDoSed and had a data breach this month after hackers found old API keys left in a configuration file on a GitLab repo which was publicly accessible. The breach highlights the importance of reviewing code and version history for sensitive information / credentials, as well as rotating keys on a regular basis. As part of this breach, 31 million user accounts with personal data including email addresses and bcrypt-hashed passwords have been exfiltrated (confirmed by "Have I Been Pwned"). Unless you had an account with the Internet Archive or posted sensitive information on public websites that were archived, it is unlikely you'll be affected by this breach. Additionally, as no plain text passwords were leaked, attackers would need to utilise brute force methods such as password spraying or credential stuffing to actually exploit any leaked credentials. However, the breach also highlights the importance of not reusing passwords (especially weak ones) across different sites and enabling MFA/2FA where possible. "Mental Outlaw" on YouTube has an interesting video on this (Fireship has also covered this) if you'd like to know more (views expressed are his own and I do not necessarily reflect / condone any opinions expressed).

"News" sites are an absolute fucking pain in the arse to navigate, right? Very early doors, but by next week, you can have all the "round ups" of your usual sources, without all that the shite "pop up", "subscribe", "cookies" and all that other shit. I've devved a site that summarises the news, quick as hell, no malarkey. No ads. you can get at it now, but it's only football news, next week, all the usual news cats. https://outstanding.news
