Representation in leadership matters. When we see people who look like us in positions of power, it becomes easier to envision ourselves in those roles. Growing up, I often wondered where Latinas like me were in leadership positions. The truth is, women only represent roughly 1 in 4 C-suite leaders, and women of color only 1 in 16 (Women in the Workplace Report 2023). But when I see Latina women like Kayla Castañeda as a CEO, it brings me joy because young Latinas can see it to be it. Her company Agua Bonita became the first Afro-Latina owned beverage brand to raise two million dollars. Join me on Tues Jan 23 for a conversation with Kayla on Lean In Latinas is Talking about her journey to becoming a CEO, including what inspired her to enter the world of entrepreneurship, the origin story of her business, and the challenges she faced along the way. Let's talk about the importance of representation and how we can continue to empower young women to pursue their dreams.
