One of the most important aspects of sustainable logistics is the introduction of alternative fuels and electric vehicles. By switching from fossil fuel-powered vehicles to cleaner alternatives, companies can significantly reduce their carbon and air pollutant emissions. Biofuels such as biodiesel and renewable diesel can serve as a direct replacement for conventional diesel, offering a more sustainable option with lower emissions. Additionally, integrating electric vehicles into the logistics fleet can have a transformative impact as they produce zero exhaust emissions. Investment in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the gradual replacement of traditional vehicles with electric vehicles can have significant environmental benefits #WNOG #Logistics #energy #greenenergy

🎯 Strategic Decarbonisation targets MUST be backed by substantial and demonstrable tactical measures! ✅ And this, is a clear example of it. Finboot's long time partner (customer ➕ investor) Repsol has published an update on their deployment of 100% Renewable Nexa Diesel now available in 600 service stations across Spain and Portugal. 🌿 This Renewable Nexa Diesel is a transition fuel, which means it is compatible with existing infrastructure (storage + distribution + vehicles) and it is also reduces emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional fossil diesel. 🛢️ This reduction on emissions is partly achieved by replacing fossil feedstock with residual vegetable oils in the fuel production process. ⚡ Transition fuels like Nexa Diesel are an excellent complement to the electrification of mobility. They represent an immediate vehicle (pun intended) to a rapid reduction on emissions in mobility. 🚛 Of course, this also needs to be backed by conscious consumer choices. Businesses in the transportation industry should be taking steps to guarantee that their legacy fleet transitions, when possible, to only consume low emission fuels. Having them available in over 600 service stations is obviously a big help for them. #netzero #sustainablemobility #urbanmobility #sustianablefuels

The start-up of our renewable fuels unit in #Cartagena this year is a proud moment for Repsol: Used cooking oil is turned into #fuel that lowers greenhouse gas #emissions from transport using existing #cars and #trucks and infrastructure. To put this into context, our 250 million euros of private capital it will have the same decarbonizing effect as 400,000 electric vehicles that cost 4 billion in subsidies. To be clear, I'm not suggesting this is #EV vs ICE but rather that we need both to lower #transport emissions as quickly as possible as cheaply as possible for the benefit of #consumers and #taxpayers.

📢 FuelsEurope congratulates Commissioner-designate Apostolos Tzitzikostas, who was confirmed after appearing before Members of the European Parliament and presenting his vision for the future of #EUtransport. A very interesting and vivid discussion during the more than 3-hour hearing with some important key takeaways for our sector: - We welcome the Commissioner-designate’s support for #technologyneutrality in transportation. This principle, which used to be a guiding principle in the EU policy-making, is more than crucial today, for ensuring that all CO2 reducing technologies, including #renewablefuels, can contribute to decarbonising transport including road transport 🚗 . - On questions asked about CO₂ standards for road vehicles, we agree that electrification has a vital role and we welcome the commitment to broaden the spectrum of CO2 reduction technologies by including e-fuels as well. However, this is only a half-step forward. Sustainable renewable fuels—both bio and synthetic—should also be leveraged to meet CO₂ targets. Both advanced biofuels and e-fuels fuels can enhance emissions reduction efforts while providing affordable mobility options for all, with advanced biofuels available as of today. No CO2 reduction technology should be left behind, given the level of climate ambition 🍃 . - We agree with the view ‘that decarbonising #aviation and #maritime transport requires a global approach. Effective climate action in these sectors can only succeed through international collaboration, safeguarding #EUcompetitiveness. - We noted the Commissioner-designate concerns about the Book and Claim approach for #SAF and his interest in further assessing this option. We believe that Book and Claim has the potential to minimise the cost of logistics while allowing to fully comply with the regulatory targets, while robust monitoring systems exist to prevent fraud and double claims. Therefore a comprehensive assessment and an open dialogue with all stakeholders is absolutely needed. - We share the Commissioner-designate view that corporate fleets are an important segment in road transport which can provide a significant contribution to decarbonisation of the sector. Given that he left all options open to support decarbonisation of corporate fleets, we call him to adopt an inclusive rather than exclusive approach, considering all available decarbonisation solutions, including sustainable renewable fuels. 💫 Upon Mr. Tzitzikostas's confirmation as Commissioner, we offer the full support of the Fuel Manufacturing Industry to work with him and his team on this very challenging journey towards sustainable and competitive transition of EU transport. 🔗 For more on how the Fuel Manufacturing Industry can contribute to meet EU’s climate objectives read our More than a Manifesto… an Offer for Europe: https://lnkd.in/dU7SsGqM

The future of sustainable aviation fuels is explored through the report "The Challenges of Scaling Up E-Kerosene Production in Europe." This report is a must-read for aviation professionals, policymakers, and environmental professionals. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the current status and future projections of e-kerosene projects in Europe. 📈 Key Milestones: 📌The report reveals that there are a total of 45 projects, including 25 large-scale industrial projects and 20 smaller pilot projects. 📌 The projected production capacity of these projects is expected to reach 1.7 Mt in 2030, surpassing the target set by the ReFuelEU regulation. 📌 Norway, France, Germany, and Sweden are are leading the charge in e-kerosene investments, attracting up to 80% of potential production. The report provides recommendations for creating a sustainable and efficient e-kerosene industry: 1. Prioritize E-Fuels in Hard-to-Abate Sectors by focusing on using e-fuels in sectors like aviation and shipping that are challenging to decarbonize through electrification. 2. Include E-Kerosene Projects in Strategic Net-Zero Technologies: This recognition can provide the necessary support and incentives for the development and deployment of e-kerosene technologies. 3. Effective Pricing of Emissions: To reduce the cost gap between fossil jet fuel and e-fuels, the report suggests implementing more effective pricing mechanisms for emissions linked to fossil fuel usage in aviation. By pricing emissions appropriately, the deployment of e-fuels can be encouraged and accelerated. 4. Boost Early Supply and Support Local Production: Member states are encouraged to set pre-2030 targets for e-kerosene production and allocate a percentage of national revenues from the carbon market (EU ETS) to support local production of e-fuels. 5. Focus EU Funding on Hydrogen Applications: The report recommends that EU funding be directed towards hydrogen applications for aviation and shipping. This can be achieved through auctioning or competitive bidding schemes in the Innovation Fund, ensuring financial support for the development and implementation of hydrogen-based e-fuel technologies. 6. Develop Meaningful Direct Air Capture (DAC) Policy Incentives: By implementing future mandates for the use of direct air capture (DAC) technologies within fuel policies. Additionally, funding for research and project development related to DAC can be instrumental in advancing these technologies and their integration into e-kerosene production. 📌This report suggests prioritizing e-fuels in aviation and shipping, urging member states to boost early supply, and advocating for effective pricing of emissions. #SustainableAviation #GreenTechnology #AviationIndustry
