Recently, the European People's Party (#EPP) published its position paper on “Securing the Competitiveness of the European Automotive Industry”. This is an important step taken by the European conservatives, who want to boost Europe’s ailing automotive sector by reversing the EU’s 2035 Internal Combustion Engine (#ICE) vehicles. This initiative demonstrates a clear commitment to technology neutrality and safeguarding the competitiveness of EU industries. The EPP’s paper also calls for the recognition of #renewablefuels, such as #efuels and #biofuels, which can run on ICE vehicles, offering a pragmatic solution that combines emissions reduction while leaving the choice to consumers on the technology they want to use. As discussions move forward, it is crucial that we recognise that together with other low-carbon technologies, ICEs fuelled by renewable fuels can contribute to achieving #Europe’s climate goals.
