Focusing on quality in environmental projects is crucial. Some initiatives may take up to 50 years to show their full potential, underscoring the need for long-term, high-quality efforts. For instance, high-quality projects ensure that emission reductions are real and verifiable, effectively contributing to climate change mitigation. Notably, high-quality credits can provide co-benefits such as biodiversity conservation, improved community health, and sustainable economic development. Data shows that over 85% of biodiversity credits from high-quality projects also support local economies . Moreover, rigorous monitoring, reporting, and third-party verification boost investor confidence. Transparency and reliability are key; for example, certified REDD+ projects have been shown to reduce deforestation by 30% . At Environmental Markets Fairness Foundation, we are dedicated to promoting integrity and effectiveness in environmental markets. Through quality credits, we can achieve global goals and ensure a sustainable future. #EnvironmentalMarkets #ClimateAction #Sustainability #QualityMatters #SustainableDevelopment #EMFF

High stakes, yet low transparency 🚨 SPOTT-assessed timber and pulp companies control over 54 million hectares of tropical forest – an area nearly the size of metropolitan France. These forests are not just vast green expanses, they are vital global assets, storing a large amount of carbon and hosting 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. The operational decisions of these companies have profound implications for our climate, biodiversity and the people who depend on these ecosystems. However, many of these companies are not only lacking clear, comprehensive sustainability policies but also show limited progress in disclosing zero deforestation and traceability commitments. This lack of transparency puts these vital ecosystems at even greater risk. With increasing regulatory pressure and tightening global environmental goals, it is more crucial than ever for companies to secure the future of tropical forests, safeguarding both wildlife and the 1 billion people who rely on these ecosystems. At the beginning of June, World Environment Day was commemorated, and we didn't want to let this important milestone go unnoticed. One of the five core principles of the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS) Standard is environmental responsibility, with indicators dedicated to protecting ecosystems and biodiversity. This principle focuses on: • Preserving areas of high conservation value • Zero deforestation • Sustainable soil and water management • Minimizing the environmental impact of soy production We firmly believe that agricultural production should not compromise the health of our planet. Through these indicators, we work to ensure that every soybean produced under our standard not only meets the highest sustainability criteria but also helps protect natural resources for future generations. In this special month, we invite everyone to reflect on the importance of responsible agricultural practices and join us in promoting a more sustainable and equitable world. Let’s care for our planet together and make every day World Environment Day! 🌱🌎 Learn more about the RTRS standard on our website: https://lnkd.in/dQ8fC8f #WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability #Conservation #ResponsibleSoy #RTRS #Environment

#Marketbasedapprochesfor halting biodiversity loss. We have seen paradigm shifts in #mechanisms for halting biodiversity loss and protecting the planets ecosystems. At first Payment for Ecosystem services was groundbreaking providing financial incentives while promoting environmental stewardship. It was embraced by nations, organizations, and communities across the globe. Currently, #globaldiscussions on #carboncredits and #biodiversitycredits have taken center stage. A transition to such market driven approaches reflects not only a shift in strategy but an evolution in our understanding of conservations economic dimensions. These mechanisms can generate revenue, which is great, however, in the long run, they may prioritize market dynamics over ecological integrity. As we continue to explore these mechanisms, its critical to reflect on important question. Are we genuinely creating a sustainable framework, or are we commodifying nature in a way that could lead to further degradation?#Letsbeguidedbypastlessons!!!

International Day for Biological Diversity marks a significant milestone in every sustainability calendar. But how can better waste management help to tackle the problem? 🏞️ Prevents habitat destruction by minimizing the need for new landfills and waste disposal sites. 🐾 Reduces pollution, such as leachate, that harms wildlife and ecosystems. 🚯 Prevents harm to wildlife by minimizing encounters with hazardous waste. ♻️ Conserves natural resources by promoting recycling and waste reduction. 🌱 Addresses invasive species introduction through proper waste management. 🌍 Mitigates climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from waste. On November 20, the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme introduced the Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings 2024 method. This updated approach simplifies processes and expands opportunities for carbon storage, replacing the 2014 version, which expired in September. Key Highlights: New Flexibility: - Immediate Start: Site preparation and planting can begin once a project application is submitted. - Seed Harvesting: Projects can harvest seeds to support local environmental planting initiatives. - Infill Planting: Additional planting allowed to enhance wildlife habitats and biodiversity. - Nature Repair Integration: Future inclusion of nature repair projects is possible. Simplified Management: - Relaxed plant spacing requirements. - A unified Reforestation Management Plan for all project details. Net Zero Goal: - The updated method supports more projects under the ACCU Scheme, aligning with Australia's commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. These changes, shaped by community consultation, aim to streamline reforestation efforts, promote biodiversity, and enhance Australia’s carbon sequestration capabilities. As reported by Business Green, the latest Nature Benchmark from the World Benchmarking Alliance highlights a pressing issue: the vast majority of companies still don't fully understand how they impact and rely on nature. This lack of understanding is hampering efforts to protect the environment. The research, based on data from 2022 to 2024, shows that while some corporates are taking steps to halt and reverse biodiversity loss, there’s a widespread failure to track environmental metrics and develop credible plans to reduce impacts on nature. Our collaboration with NatureMetrics aims to address these challenges, help businesses access scientifically robust tools and Methods, and provide a standardised application for measuring the state of nature. This can help sustainability goals and contribute to nature's recovery. By standardising how biodiversity is measured and accrediting tools, we aim to drive impactful, nature-positive investments and enhance accountability across industries. Together, we’re paving the way for businesses to understand better and report their environmental impacts, ensuring that nature is valued and at the core of decision-making. Our CEO, Adrian Ward, comments: “Collaboration is vital to making significant changes to nature. By working with NatureMetrics, we are combining our strengths and expertise to create more accurate and reliable measure of the state of nature. This will allow us to continue to evolve the accuracy and transparency of environmental accounting standard setting across the industry and ensure that companies have access to the most reliable information available.” Read more in the BusinessGreen article 🔗 https://bit.ly/3MfGnkU 🌍 #Biodiversity #Sustainability #CorporateResponsibility #NatureMetrics #AccountingForNature #NatureBenchmark
