Those fortunate enough to reside on coastal regions. Those fortunate enough to afford boards and wetsuits. To be fortunate enough to have the surrounding infrastructure to train, to have others go before them. To be lucky enough to live in Southern California. In South West France. In Sydney. To be able to surf all day and not worry about providing for a family. To be home schooled and only focus on ‘pro’ surfing. Barriers to entry that those fortunate to do it wouldn’t even recognise existed; the statement “all you need is a board and a wetsuit” reflecting so acutely the nonchalance of the privileged few. And yet, we hope those days are behind us. With the amazing work of groups such as Postive Vibe Warriors, Black Girls Surf and Juju surf club to name but a handful. Barriers are being broken down and we hope, with fingers crossed and a collective goodwill in the right direction that not only are the barriers being lowered, but tossed aside as surfing provides a means of empowerment to those less fortunate. #surfing #community #opportunity #outdoors #getoutdoors

🌍✨ Passionate about fighting climate change? 🌱💪 Four years ago, I made the decision to dedicate myself full-time to combating climate change. Little did I know, it was the same day the Covid-19 pandemic began. The pandemic brought challenges, but it also opened many eyes to the urgent need for action. As we inch closer to normalcy, my commitment to this cause remains steadfast. It's become a part of me, like a persistent "long Covid" that I can't shake off—a bug that's transformed my life and perspective. Our small social enterprise in Nueva Ecija has made a difference for local farmers, but there's so much more to be done. From lobbying for policy changes to partnering with sustainability organizations, there's a vast landscape of work ahead. As an introvert, speaking to large groups drains me, but I push through because the cause is worth it. Afterwards, I often need days to recover, retreating to my room to recharge. Now, before embarking on another major project, I want to support another nonprofit in securing the funding they deserve. Together, we can inspire more Climate Actioneers like me.
