What a wonderful aspect to know that those who care enough, pay tribute to the past & point to the future & welcomed bridge from the gap of studies to the venture to their new careers. To know the difference is imperative. Cannot ever allow anyone to take credit for what one has learnt, done, made with years of input. This week, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted the White House Classroom to Career Summit, joined by students, apprentices, K-12 leaders, community college presidents, unions, employers, and philanthropies to highlight the Administration's record progress to train and connect Americans to good-paying jobs. This Summit took place nearly fifteen years after Dr. Biden led the first-ever White House Summit on Community Colleges as Second Lady, where she set the path forward for community colleges to be a critical part of America’s economic vision for the future. Today, 34 states and Washington, D.C., now offer tuition-free community college and job training programs. And at the Summit, President Biden announced that more than $80 billion from his American Rescue Plan has now been committed toward strengthening and expanding our workforce. The Biden-Harris Administration is working to bridge the gap between what students learn and the careers they can enter.

This is what BCPS does with CCBC!
We had a fantastic time participating in this week's Baltimore County Public Schools Career Expo at Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville! It was inspiring to see hundreds (maybe thousands) of students eager to explore future career opportunities right here in our community. "Every time we invest in our students, we are at the same time investing in our communities." - Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis, Ph.D, CBCC President. With over 300 program and workforce options available at CCBC, we were proud to share the diverse career paths students can pursue in their own backyard. Events like these are invaluable for connecting students with local career and apprenticeship programs. A big shoutout to the Baltimore County government, BCPS, and CCBC for their collaboration in making this event possible!

Perhaps I'm just ignorant, but what and where and when is Diversity Equality and Inclusion relevant? Let's start with admittance and grades for QC courses. In my day those who scored the required SAT scores and had the required average in Highschool were accepted into QC. There was no discrimination. Just numbers. Everyone else could go to QCC and matriculate into QC for their Junior year. Diversity irrelevant. Equality, everyone got an equal opportunity, Inclusion standards were color blind and ethnic neutral. Now lets look at Main St. Flushing 1970 compared to today. Back then Diversity in all races and religions. Equality was go into a store with money and you got what you wanted. Inclusion All were welcome. Today's Main St. Flushing. 100% Asian language. 100% Asian business owned. What happened to Diversity? What's concerning is when the people in charge program AI. The one source of programming will end the 1st amendment. Then obviously old uninformed people like me will just have to accept the infallible explanations. Oh well. I guess the truth checkers will make it all right.
Spring is a busy time at QC! In the April issue of President Frank Wu's newsletter "Frankly Speaking," read about upcoming campus events, including Diversity Week (April 15-19) and Become a Knight Day, a celebration for accepted Fall '24 students! At TWU Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business & Entrepreneurship, our students don’t just study business—they live it through hands-on experiences that shape their futures. 💼✨ Today, we're spotlighting the internship journey of Amanda Stafford with the 2024 Texas State Fair. Here's what Amanda had to say about the experience: “I learned so much more than I thought I would learn, I feel much more confident in my abilities as an HR professional.” Internships are a vital step toward professional growth, and we’re proud to see our students thrive and make an impact in the business world. 🌎 💡 What’s motivating YOU this Monday? Let us know in the comments below! #TWUCollegeofBusiness #MotivationMonday #InternshipExperience #BusinessLeaders
Amanda Stafford, a senior at Texas Woman’s University majoring in human resource management, was one of over 2 million visitors to the 2024 State Fair of Texas. Like many, she enjoyed the iconic Big Tex, rode the ferris wheel, and savored the award-winning food. But Amanda’s fair experience went far beyond the rides and food. As a human resources intern for the State Fair, Amanda played a pivotal role in the event’s operations. She was part of a team that hired 750 people for the gates department, including parking attendants and gate personnel. “I was the main point of contact for six departments,” Stafford said. “I was in charge of hiring, staying in touch with the department managers, doing the on-boarding for those employees. If they had to be terminated, any verbal warnings, I would handle that.”
