🌍 The G20 Summit recently took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During this summit, leaders from the world's major economies convened to discuss pressing global issues. 📍 In conjunction with the summit, the Global Policy Center at IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs released a report titled ‘Global Bridges: The EU and the Global South for an Inclusive Multilateralism‘. This report emphasizes the importance of integrating perspectives from the Global South into multilateral frameworks. It was presented at an official T20 side event in Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the need for evolving multilateral structures that are inclusive and representative. The report features contributions from esteemed authors, including Indrani Bagchi (Ananta Aspen Centre), Feliciano de Sá Guimarães (CEBRI - Centro Brasileiro de Relações Internacionais), Steven Gruzd & Maria Elizabeth Joseph (South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), and Jose Ignacio Torreblanca (ECFR). Check out our latest #SDG Knowledge Hub Commentary: Can Summit of the Future Support #Sustainability #Science #Diplomats? #Youth and future generations have a dedicated chapter (Chapter 4) in the Pact for the Future, which is structured around five chapters – Chapter 1: Sustainable development and financing for development (FfD), Chapter 2: International peace and security, Chapter 3: Science, technology, and innovation (STI) and digital cooperation, and Chapter 5: Transforming global governance, dedicated to reform of the principal organs of the UN, including the Security Council, reform of the international financial architecture, and identifying and addressing complex global shocks. The Pact for the Future gives a role to young generations, considering and inviting them as stakeholders. This is a crucial opportunity, which can elevate the role of youth as science ambassadors for sustainability and serve as a driver to embrace the under-represented science diplomacy field in academia.
