The Interim Executive market looks very different from fourteen years ago! This market has matured in nearly every aspect since Watermark began the Interim Executive Survey in 2011. A few differences: 🔹 There has now been a surge in Interim Executives engaged on day-rate contracts (below the line) and a drop in fixed-term contracts (above the line). This reflects the preference for flexible and agile arrangements that align with changing business needs in the current business environment. 🔹 The length of Interim Executive contracts has increased. Some of the major contributors to this are significant transformational and change programs, the restructuring of business operating models, and increased strategic project durations. 4moThe rise in daily rate contracts underscores the growing preference for flexibility in talent engagement. In an uncertain market, organisations are increasingly ‘borrowing’ rather than ‘buying’ talent, allowing them to remain nimble and responsive to rapid changes. Secondly, the increase in contract length is indicative of the deeper, more transformational mandates that Interim Executives are being entrusted with.
