At ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo Europe, Vitesco Technologies showcased the advanced sensor cleaning system it has developed to address this issue. Wojciech Jurowitz, a project manager at the company, tells ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle International that this system, equipped with air and water cleaning components, a distributor, pump and high-pressure features, can clean up to 10 sensors swiftly. The air-blast component is crucial for removing dirt and water droplets, facilitating autonomous driving. Jurowitz explains that the system has been tested in a vehicle to demonstrate its functionality. In an exciting new development, the UK’s Automated Vehicles Act was brought into law yesterday. The Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom have been a key contributor to this, and comes soon after their recent draft guidelines to incorporating new technology for road condition monitoring by local authorities. What this means is that autonomous driving is now much closer with this development, and we can anticipate our RoadMetrics AI road defect prediction models to have more applications outside of road maintenance. I’m keen to see how this develops in the near future.
