Both sides of the argument explained here. If you love the W - educate yourself. If you dislike the W - educate yourself.
WNBA franchises are skyrocketing in value, with the Las Vegas Aces now worth $140 million after owner Mark Davis paid just $2 million for the team in 2021. But the numbers are slightly misleading... So today's video breaks down everything you need to know, including who actually owns the WNBA, why the league will lose $50 million this season, and what needs to happen for players to see a substantial salary increase. $600m ➡️ the (rumoured) current expansion fee to purchase an Major League Soccer franchise. $20m ➡️ the current expansion fee to purchase a United Soccer League (USL) franchise. Like every great investor, the challenge is to find value where it doesn’t yet exist or where it hasn't been maximised. This is Brett M. Johnson. The co-owner of Ipswich Town FC, Phoenix Rising Football Club, and the newly formed Rhode Island FC, Brett is both creating and re-establishing value across a portfolio of football assets. US football (soccer...) has created massive asset value, underwritten by security of participation. The tradeoff? Too many games of no consequence. Limited consequence can limit attention 👀 Promotion/relegation fixes that...but reduces value 📉 What do you chase? 🤷♂️ Regardless of the operating system, don’t lose sight of the primary objective; building a great business! 🗣 “I like to focus on what I refer to as the sustainability of football; being able to have a franchise that's profitable and not just for the equity appreciation fairies coming to your rescue” A sports ownership schooling from one of the best in the business (of sport)🔥 Business of Sport (Links in comments)👇 #Ipswich #BrettJohnson #PhoenixRising #RhodeIsland #PremierLeague #MLS #USL #businessofsport #sportsindustry

Enough of this Bobby Bonilla Day Nonsense orchestrated by people who ignore the facts. Fact #1" That buyout allowed the Mets to obtain Mike Hampton who won the NLCS 2000 MVP en route to a Mets league championship. Fact #2: Losing Mike Hampton to free agency gave the Mets a compensatory draft pick which became David Wright. In essence, that buyout (in addition to giving the Mets interest saved for making payments long-term) got them pitching piece they needed to beat the Cards in NLCS and gave them the best third basemen in franchise history. As usual, people never mention these 2 important facts when talking about it. As the Gordon Gekko character in Wall Street said, "Those are the facts---the rest of it is conversation.:

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is supporting a bid to bring the WNBA’s 16th franchise to St. Louis, with plans to invest and promote the team to other investors and the league. Tatum’s involvement is enabled by a 2023 NBA collective bargaining rule allowing players to own up to 4% of WNBA franchises. Other stars like LeBron James and Stephen Curry have also shown interest in WNBA investments, though none have finalized deals. Sports as the new economy. 🏟️ Since 2005, the value of sports franchises in the US has significantly exceeded the S&P 500 index. Of the four major North American sports leagues, the NBA currently has the highest average price-to-earnings ratio, at around 9. The average revenue of an NBA team is $310 million, while the average club value is $2.6 billion. 💸🏀 #SportsEconomy #Franchises #NBA #S&P500

Superb overview of sports finance today
Post #SuperBowl and there’s still so much to discuss around football! Goldman Sachs’ Greg Carey delved into all things balls, dollars and cents with Forbes #SportsMoney. In addition to discussing our own work advising and financing leagues and teams, he also highlighted the valuation gap between American and European football franchises and the influx of new capital flowing into both. Highly recommend a watch (though I am unabashedly biased), even for those like me whose sports knowledge is nearly nonexistent. https://lnkd.in/eT3JZRE8

One of our favorite days of the year! #NATIONALHIGHFIVEDAY ✋ In 2019, the University of California-Berkeley, decided to test a theory for one entire NBA basketball season. The hypothesis they were testing was this: teams who high-five more during games may be more successful. We all accept the idea that congratulating teammates is an effectively motivational tactic, so shouldn’t that theory extend to high-fives? After an in-depth analysis of basketball players, UC Berkeley found that the answer was 100% YES! The teams that consistently celebrated with high fives scored more efficiently and won more games than the average teams. So, at #IronNation we give out high fives every single day and we #RiseAsOne💚 #teamonthree #isielitetraining #community #teamwork #boutiquefitness #franchising #franchisebrand #brandgrowth #communityimpact #businessgrowth #franchise Adam Rice Amanda Hall Nathaniel Fennell Garrett Garcia Kelli H.
