It seems like there is going to be a huge wave of heat pump installation (& maybe even government regulation req them). Having just bid them out: ~10% higher unit cost ~35% energy savings -similar quality, length of service & maintenance -pays for itself in ~1.5 years

I would like to see some of the larger companies that offer heat pump installs, e.g. British Gas OVO Octopus Energy to also offer a low temperature conversion proposition. This would still involve a full heat loss calculation, and the replacement of radiators where necessary, but without the heat pump, yet! Why? • reduce/split initial cost • helps to bring any future distressed purchase in scope • customer gets to experience what it would feel like having a heat pump without the perceived risk of switching • make savings on gas in the interim • less corrosion and stress on the system This could present issues with current grants, but these won't be around forever as costs should reduce over time, but as an industry we need to develop different ways to drive the transition and increase adoption.
