I’m excited to share this powerful research from the Travel Foundation on the positive impact of holidays for both travelers and destinations. The report highlights the importance of ensuring that tourism revenue stays within the local economy, a critical factor in driving sustainable development. One key issue addressed in the report is economic leakage, when a large portion of tourism revenue leaves the destination instead of benefiting local communities. This can happen when foreign-owned businesses dominate, and profits flow outside the country, or when imported goods and services are prioritized over local ones. Tourism should be a source of growth for destinations, but when funds leak out of the local economy, it limits the potential benefits for residents, small businesses, and infrastructure development. By supporting local suppliers, promoting locally-owned accommodations, and investing in sustainable practices, we can ensure that tourism has a positive, lasting impact. This report is a must-read for anyone in the tourism industry committed to responsible travel and economic sustainability. Let’s continue working toward tourism that not only enriches the traveler’s experience but also truly benefits the destinations we love! 🌱✈️ #SustainableTourism #EconomicGrowth #ResponsibleTravel #TravelFoundation #TourismImpact #TourismEconomics #SupportLocal

It's National Travel and Tourism Week here in the US, and spring is in full swing. Florian Herrmann is in beautiful Wyoming, where it's raining in the valleys and snowing in the mountains—a perfect metaphor for the changing seasons in tourism! With international travel nearly fully recovered, we have prioritized two KPIs for destination marketing success: 1️⃣ Market Attention: Crafting stories and content that captivate and resonate deeply, ensuring your destination stands out. 2️⃣ Market Share: Monitoring gains and losses to understand how your efforts attract international travelers who spend more and stay longer. We are incredibly excited about the resurgence of international travel. Let’s leverage these insights to help shape our future strategies. #Tourism #TravelMarketing #NationalTravelAndTourismWeek #MarketingStrategies #KPI #HerrmannGlobal

As we near the end of the year, many are already thinking of what's to come for 2025, including where to travel for vacation. To help make your next trip just right, HKS' Ben Martin shines light on the concept of 'Goldilocks countries' — what they are, the pros and cons, and more. “In regards to tourism, the bowl of porridge in the metaphor is the destination and the temperature of the porridge relates to the level of development and desire of the host community to welcome tourists," says Ben. "The Goldilocks Countries are destinations that are ‘just right’ ― welcoming to tourists, backed by government tourism funding, yet not oversaturated or perceived as ‘too busy.’” Get insight on why your next dream vacation should be to a 'Goldilocks country'. ▶️ https://lnkd.in/gDHzX7zm #travel #traveltrends #advisory
