These fuzzy friends, diligently crafted by our 3D design team, are in honour of our new hive queen 🐝 Recent bee developments have seen our Queen "Dottie" replaced with a new Queen (a natural progression); very interestingly, the Bees have allowed Dottie to remain in the hive alongside the new Queen - a process known as supersedure 👑 This means, of course, we have to name our new queen! Come on, Keir Starmer , this issue is right on your constituency's doorstep (Holborn & St Pancras). Given Labour's promises to support businesses and cut red tape, it's a ridiculous waste of resources, environmentally and socially harmful to close Boxpark when developers aren't due to start work. The high street is struggling, and Boxpark Shoreditch provides a crucial platform for innovative and experiential retail startups. It's the epitome of retail entrepreneurship and should be a priority for a Labour government that aims to support businesses. Get A Drip mag not exist as a brand today without BOXPARK granting us our first-ever retail location in Shoreditch when everyone else said no. We opened in May 2018 and are still trading there today. Since then, we have provided over 300,000 services, expanded to 37 locations across 3 countries, and employ over 200 staff within our network, contributing millions to the economy. Boxpark has undoubtedly been the catalyst for many other startup success stories. It's frustrating that Powerleague received an extension while Boxpark Shoreditch is left out. Can we talk about ribbon-cutting ceremonies? The giant scissors? The ends of the short ribbon being stretched between smiling executives? The go-to event for any opening that results in the same played-out photo op. I think we can do better. Even a tiny bit of creativity can go a long way here. 🍦Opening up a new ice cream shop? Make it a public event. Hold a contest in advance to see who gets the very first cone, and make that inaugural scoop your grand opening moment. 🔑 Ceremoniously unlock and open the doors of a new store location for your eagerly awaiting first customers to come flooding in. 🔨 Bookend the original groundbreaking moment that took place years ago (with the yellow hard hats and shiny shovels, of course) with a tightening of the last screw or nailing the last nail to formally finish the job. 🏊♂️ Opening a hotel with a pool? Hold an essay contest among elementary school kids giving one winner the first ceremonial cannonball dive into the pool, officially opening it for all. 🎯 There are so many ways to turn a ho-hum moment into something more fun, memorable and social-media worthy

You want me to eat what? One of my fondest childhood memories is this little shop that sold bierocks. I found it so random that a Bierock stand and ski shop was in my Black neighborhood. At the time I had no idea what skiing was, and I definitely had not a clue about galuskies or Bierocks. Nor was I willing to try them. Fast forward 10 years and I attended college at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Ks. And coincidentally Volga Germans had settled in Hays, Ks. And what did I find myself eating, Bierocks and galuskies. LOL! 10 years later, I found myself in Breckenridge, Colorado on a ski slope. D!versity is SO important in many ways. We must move the conversation beyond saviorism. Beyond, me and my privileges saving others. Beyond I must be an ally because people need my help. We need to get to a place where we co-exist. Where differences are comforting. These white businesses did not have a problem being in my predominately Black neighborhood. I never had a problem with them. In fact, I felt comfortable browsing around the ski shop and ordering a drink from the Bierock stand. I felt comfortable that when it came time for me to try new things, I was willing to. I was comfortable with these things that weren’t culturally relevant to me, because they were familiar to me. And in an odd way, they were a part of my culture. Because white shops were comfortable being in community with Black folks. You know… We need Black shops in predominantly white neighborhoods. We need mosques next to the Lutheran church. We need the artist next to the scientist. We need to community. Occasionally when I visit home, I make sure to visit the community that shaped me. I drive by Central avenue and past a few of my fondest memories. The Slope Ski shop that sits on the north side of the street. And the Bierock stand that sits on the south side.
