Such a reality when you see problems , share them, and the response you get “well, we will handle if it happens again.” In most my career I’ve seen professionals say that HR or not HR. This is the very essence of reactive vs proactive. It’s important to create a space and listen to the ones doing the day to day work. If this is something you don’t have, create it. It’s more than just 1:1 conversations and team meetings. Embed a psychological safety/ safe to speak environment so that this happens. If you find that you’re putting our a lot of fires, then it’s time to think about what space and culture you created.

There are 2 Types of HR Departments in 2024 1️⃣ Reactive, Barely hanging on for dear life. 2️⃣ Proactive, Focusing on preventing problems before they start. Most are in Type 1, Is yours one of them? REACTIVE HR ❌ Denies mistakes and shifts blame. ❌ Avoids feedback or ignores feedback if given. ❌ Always reacting to problems, never anticipating them. ❌ Dropping the ball on clear and consistent communication. ❌ Constant putting out fires NO time for long-term planning. ❌ Enforcing rules to the letter creating a rigid and unsupportive environment. PROACTIVE HR ✅ Future-Focused, Proactively Planning to prevent problems before they happen. ✅ Owns mistakes and works to correct. ✅ Actively seeking feedback for continuous improvement. ✅ Transparency and clear communication. ✅ Collaboration with other departments to DRIVE business success. ✅ Invest in employee development and building a thriving work environment.
