Why Aren’t There Conferences and Events Focused on Data in Pakistan? Data is the new oil—a driving force behind innovation, decision-making, and growth in nearly every industry. Yet, in Pakistan, a country brimming with tech talent and entrepreneurial spirit, there’s a surprising void: we lack dedicated conferences and events on the theme of data. As someone deeply immersed in the data industry, I find this absence puzzling. Data-focused events are more than just networking opportunities; they’re platforms for: Learning: Sharing the latest trends, tools, and technologies. Collaboration: Connecting professionals, startups, and enterprises to solve real-world challenges. Growth: Fostering an ecosystem that values data-driven innovation and decision-making. Neighboring regions like the GCC are already ahead, hosting summits that attract global attention. Why can’t Pakistan? I believe it's time to start the conversation and take action. Whether you're a data professional, a tech enthusiast, or a business leader, let’s brainstorm ways to bring the data community in Pakistan together. What are your thoughts? Do we need more focus on data events in Pakistan? #Data #Networking #Pakistan #Conferences #Innovation #Tech

Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the #DohaForum, one of the most prominent platforms for dialogue on critical global issues. I particularly appreciated this year’s theme, “The Innovation Imperative”, which emphasized the crucial role of innovation in tackling today’s challenges. It was inspiring to see how technology and innovation are now key topics across scientific, political, economic, and business platforms, highlighting their growing importance in shaping our future. I had the privilege of participating in a panel discussion titled *Fostering Economic Security: Striking the Balance Between Global Cooperation and Tech Sovereignty*. The session delved into the complexities of economic globalization and its implications for the tech sector. The discussion explored how nations can secure their national interests in technology development while upholding the rules-based international trading system established by the World Trade Organization. We also examined how international cooperation can ensure the growth of national tech industries and the broader impact of these strategies on global trade relations and economic security. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing my fellow panelists speak about how Europe, US, and Japan are tackling the issue of economic security for tech development. Their perspectives provided invaluable insights into the challenges and strategies employed in their respective regions. During the discussion, I shed light on Qatar’s efforts in science, technology, and innovation. Over the past two decades, the Qatari government’s initiatives have transformed the nation into a hub of science and technology, placing it on the global stage when it comes to innovation. While Qatar’s technology and innovation ecosystem is still in its nascent stages compared to the regions represented by my fellow panelists, I emphasized that the best steps for ensuring future economic security in tech development lie in cultivating our own local expertise and talents. It is crucial to maintain a minimum critical mass of knowledge workers within the country. This approach ensures that Qatar can not only absorb knowledge from global partnerships but also build a sustainable foundation for innovation domestically. While increasing global partnerships in science and technology remains a priority, I highlighted the importance of ensuring real knowledge transfer to the local community. By fostering a robust local ecosystem and empowering our knowledge workers, Qatar can strengthen its position in the global technology landscape and secure a resilient future. I would like to thank #DohaForum organizers and Japan Institute for International Affairs (JIIA) , the panel partners, for the opportunity to participate in the panel.
