Battery passports increasing transparency over supply chain🙌🚘 Volvo Cars is coming up with a battery passport demonstrating; ⚒️origins of raw materials ⚙️components ♻️recycled content and 🌿carbon footprint Battery passports will be mandatory for electric vehicles (EVs) sold in the European Union from February 2027. Great move from the brand to start this initiative with EX90 rolling it out for other models as well in the future. One important part is that I believe this type of digital passports should also provide information and transparency over the social dimensions as well regarding human rights and working conditions in the production of the specific product🙌 Digital product passports are getting more and more important as stakeholders demand more transparency over companies impact via the production of their products. Various sectors including textile, electronics will have to use such mechanisms as well in the near future. Entering a new era of transparency! The EX90s are being delivered in the EU and US this year with battery passports, powered by Circulor. This achievement is the result of ambition and commitment from both Volvo Cars and Circulor since 2019. After years of piloting I am very happy that this is now happening at production scale and the need for Battery Passport pilots belongs to the past. And it is about time ... with market requirements now taking effect in the US and in Europe in 2027, the time for pilots and experiments has passed.
