"The fundamental message was that streaming needs to shift from a single consumer value proposition of ‘all the music, any time, anywhere’, and simple digital monetisation strategies focused on subscriber growth (‘get people to pay, and then get more people to pay’), to a more complex model that maximises customer value and focuses on both subscriber and ARPU growth." #MusicDistribution #Streaming #MusicBusiness #MusicIndustry #Beatroot

On the music streaming services playlists are the lock-in mechanism. To me, at least. So I'm very surprised that Spotify doesn't have a tool to migrate your playlists from Apple Music (for example). There are a bunch of articles and third-party services (some paid) to do that but isn't it the lowest hanging fruit to bring people over from the competitor? Or do we need to wait for some nasty EU regulation to force streaming companies into supporting an open playlist exchange format? Or should I write some CLI tool that only some people can figure out how to use? #everythingisbrokenandnoonecares #spotify #applemusic #streaming #software

IFPI’s Engaging with Music 2023 revealed an increase in the average weekly listening time to 20.7 hours, a testament to the growing engagement with licensed music services worldwide. When it comes to different methods of music engagement, listeners spent 32% of the time in audio streaming, followed by 31% in video streaming (including YouTube and TikTok), 17% in radio, 9% in purchased music, 4% in live music and 7% in other forms of listening. According to the report, subscription audio services such as Spotify and Apple Music remain dominant, with over 73% engaging via streaming. Despite increased hours devoted to licensed music services, piracy persists, with 29% of respondents using illegal methods to obtain music, emphasizing the need for ongoing vigilance. Let's review which music streaming trends will extend into the next year and will be relevant for music or video streaming services, digital or linear radios, labels, libraries, publishers, in-store music providers, or sync agencies in 2024.

Up to 200,000 songs are uploaded daily to many digital providing streaming services. It becomes a crowded field rather quickly, and in many instances, your music can get lost in all of what is often called “white noise”. As streaming catalogs continue to grow in size and depth of music, DSP’s (digital service providers) are beginning to remove music that has had zero impact on listeners. As we continue our annual “Music Biz 2024” Conference Series, in the studio with us today is Gitte Bendzulla, who is the C.O.O. of the music platform, Deezer. Deezer is a French founded, French headquartered digital streaming service providing music for the European, African, and South American markets. France is considered the entrance to the European music market, and Deezer is at the head of the streaming services providing an opening for new music for the rest of Europe, and beyond. https://lnkd.in/eJdVvbZ #musicpodcast #MusicBusiness #musicindustry #streaming #deezer
