Some Indigenous people who use drugs do not feel safe disclosing their drug use to health care providers. Some who did report their drug use have reported worse quality health care than those who didn’t. The FNHA is working to ensure that health care is stigma-free and culturally safe for all Indigenous people. You can read more about our research in the infographic here. Despite spending double of what other countries do on healthcare, the U.S. ranks last among 10 high-income nations! Key stats from the Mirror, Mirror 2024 report: • 4 years shorter life expectancy than peers • Highest rate of preventable deaths • 26 million still uninsured • $4 trillion spent annually (the highest among top 10 richest nations), yet last in care outcomes The system is broken—but it’s fixable if we come together to address challenges like: • Fix the primary care system by incentivizing PCPs appropriately and reducing their administrative burden so they can spend more time with their patients • Curb medication costs with price controls like in Europe so people can afford medications like Insulin to help them stay out of the hospitals and stay healthy • Focus on prevention rather than throwing the kitchen sink at treatment • Listen to patients and healthcare experts—only those receiving or delivering care truly understand the challenges 💬 #HealthcareCrisis #HealthReform #PublicHealth #USHealthcare https://lnkd.in/gwqJkbeR

World Health Day comes, this year, with a strong message, especially from patients: My Health, My Right! However, it is often violated in Romania, so that we have reached the country with the third lowest life expectancy in the EU. One of the causes is the underfunding of the medical system. More than 30 patient organizations and associations from the Coalition Votez pentru Sănătate - I Vote for Health are asking the authorities to take concrete measures: 9% of GDP for Health would bring us closer to a civilized European country! https://lnkd.in/dSHVYR-K
