We've had some big changes in the eligibility criteria for IATF16949 in the last few months but I haven't seen much discussion about it. Is this because it's going under the radar and people aren't aware of them or is it not as big a deal as I think it is? For clarity, I'm talking about the changes to the rules in January that allowed organisations supplying "aftermarket" parts to be certified to IATF and the stakeholder communique released today telling us that organisations manufacturing electric vehicle (EV) charging systems and their related components are eligible for certification to IATF 16949. To me these are huge changes, because if you are already certified to IATF and are also supplying aftermarket or EV charging components then the scope of your certification is essentially changing overnight, which is a big mountain to climb if you have an audit coming up in the near future and you haven't applied IATF to these components in the past (as they weren't eligible)! What are your thoughts?

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗩𝗗𝗔 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗬𝗦 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘂𝗲𝗻: Integrating Potential Analyses into Automotive SPICE The AK13 group at VDA Automotive SYS in Nauen is set to introduce a major enhancement to Automotive SPICE v4.0, integrating Potential Analyses to better evaluate development risks. This innovation uses a traffic light color system to visually represent risk levels: • Red: High risk (≤50% fulfillment) – immediate action needed. • Yellow: Moderate risk (51-75% fulfillment) – careful monitoring required. • Green: Low risk (>75% fulfillment) – development on track. This quick, intuitive method allows teams to rapidly identify and address potential issues, complementing the existing detailed Capability levels and rating schema of Automotive SPICE. Benefits include: • Enhanced Risk Management: Clear, immediate understanding of risks. • Efficiency: Quick assessments completed in just two days. • Balanced Evaluation: Maintains thorough traditional assessments. Knüvener Mackert GmbH supports this trend with training and coaching, ensuring stakeholders effectively implement and benefit from these advancements. This integration promises to streamline and improve automotive development processes, contributing to safer, more reliable systems.
