Finlaysons’ Post

EVENTS | Reflections on the 32nd Finlaysons Wine Roadshow As the 32nd Finlaysons Wine Roadshow wraps up, we take a moment to reflect on the critical discussions that unfolded across Australia’s viticultural regions. This year’s theme posed a vital question: “Who will be the next consumer of Australian wine, and how do we attract them?” The Australian wine sector is facing unprecedented challenges. With traditional consumer bases aging and future generations showing different drinking habits, the industry must adapt. Short-term pressures are acute, but the medium and long-term questions are existential for winemakers and grape growers. Over the course of our roadshow, we delved into: - The state of the sector, unpacking the data on emerging consumer trends. - Strategies to attract new generations of wine enthusiasts. - Initiatives from peak bodies Australian Grape & Wine, Wine Australia - Legal considerations for promoting wine to a new audience. We thank the passionate winemakers, grape growers, and industry stakeholders who joined us. Your insights, resilience, and commitment inspire confidence that, together, we can navigate these challenges and uncover opportunities to secure a vibrant future for Australian wine. And with thanks to our terrific and insightful presenters Ned Hewitson, Wine Australia Ali Laslett and Lee McLean, Australian Grape & Wine Peter McAtamney, Wine Business Solutions, LLC Will Taylor, Finlaysons And our supporting state and regional associations Coonawarra Vignerons, Barossa Australia, McLaren Vale Grape, Wine & Tourism Association, Riverland Wine, Canberra District Wine Industry Association, Wine Tasmania, Wine Yarra Valley Winemakers of Rutherglen, Hunter Valley Wine & Tourism Association Margaret River Wine Association #FinlaysonsWineRoadshow #AustralianWine #WineIndustry #FutureConsumers
