Food security is not just about producing more food, but also about ensuring that people have access to nutritious food. It’s about breaking the cycle of hunger and malnutrition, and building a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Let’s work together to: • Ensure equitable distribution of food resources •Support sustainable agriculture practices •Promote nutrition education and awareness •Empower local communities to take control of their food systems. Happy new week!

💚 Yesterday was #InternationalPlantHealthDay ! A special occasion to raise awareness about the crucial importance of plant health for our environment and food security. 🌿 #Plants are life ! We depend on them for 80 percent of the food we eat and 98 percent of the oxygen we #breathe. 🍀 🦋 The International Day of Plant Health calls on everyone to take action to keep our plants #healthy and ensure food safety and safe trade for #sustainable economies and livelihoods. 🐛 Healthy plants constitute the foundation for all life on #Earth, as well as ecosystem functions, food security and nutrition. Plant health is key to the sustainable development of #agriculture required to feed a growing global population by 2050. #Agroecology #PlantHealth 🌱 FAO @IPPC 🍃

World Food Day marks the founding of the United Nations Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about global hunger and promoting actions to ensure food security and access to nutritious diets for all. At Griffith Foods, recognizing this right means we must strive to help create a food system that meets today’s needs while protecting the planet and the health of the future. We achieve this by enhancing the nutritional profile of the foods we develop and prioritize sustainability in product development by reducing food waste and innovating plant-based alternatives to traditional animal products. At Griffith Foods, we are allies in this mission, driving nutrition and sustainability in the food industry. 🍎🥦🍞 Happy #FoodDay to all! Today is a celebration of our planet’s incredible bounty, but it's also a day to reflect on the ways we can nourish ourselves better and help end hunger globally. #FoodDay is not just about eating, it’s about recognizing the importance of good nutrition and sustainable agriculture. As we appreciate the food on our tables, let's remember that there are many around the world who don't have access to proper nutrition. So as we tuck into our meals today, let's ponder over how we can contribute towards a world where everyone has the food they need to thrive. Can we make healthier choices? Can we waste less? Can we learn more about where our food comes from and support local farmers? Let's use #FoodDay as a platform to discuss and commit to these changes. After all, food is not just a basic human need, but a fundamental right. What are some ways you think we as individuals can contribute to ending world hunger? Let's get the conversation started! #FoodDay #NoHunger #SustainableAgriculture #Beesolver #BeesolverTechnology #SoftwareDevelopment #OffshoreCompany

The world’s population is growing. But today, at a global level, agriculture is currently producing one third more calories than necessary to feed all the people in the world. In principle, there is enough food for everybody. Nevertheless one person in nine goes to bed hungry. Worldwide there are still 800 million people going hungry. . . . https://lnkd.in/g75TxhNW . . . #FoodSecurity #GlobalHunger #GlobalFoodSystems #FoodAccess #HungerStatistics #NutritionalDeficiency #FoodPolicy #InternationalAid #AgriculturalEfficiency #HumanitarianCrises #orgarium

Welcome to Day 5!💚 📍How much meat do you consume? Reducing meat consumption offers numerous benefits for individuals, public health, animal welfare, and the environment. It can lower the risk of chronic diseases, like heart disease and certain cancers, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, alleviate pressure on natural resources, and promote more sustainable food choices. #ICYMI. Task for the day: 🍀Commit to going meatless for a day by consuming plant based meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 🍀Explore new recipes to make your meatless meal delicious and satisfying. 🍀Keep track of your meat consumption for a week, noting the types and quantities of meat you consume each day. 🍀Reflect on steps to reduce meat intake and incorporate more plant based foods in your diet. This weekend is the best time to hop on this challenge. Share a plant based meal you had this week or that you will be having this weekend in the comment section or on social media, using the #ECO30 to inspire others to reduce their meat consumption. Ready? Let's go. We'll be glad to read you.💚 AIIDEV Africa #plantdiet #meatreduction #lifestyle #sustainability #sgeinitiative

"Feeding Knowledge, Not Just Food: How Bemetara Beat Malnutrition Through Nutrition Counselling" I belive while food security initiatives have made significant strides across states, nutrition security is still a challenge. It’s not just about access to food, but knowing how to eat. Poor feeding practices, coupled with myths and the increasing availability of highly processed food, have compounded the issue. This is where nutrition counselling comes in, offering a solution beyond just providing meals. Take Bemetara for example, a district in Chhattisgarh. Despite its fertile lands and relative prosperity, over 3,000 children were severely malnourished in 2022. The core issue wasn’t scarcity but a lack of understanding around proper diets. To tackle this, the Potth Laika Abhiyaan was launched, focusing on nutrition counselling. Parents learned about balanced diets like #TirangaBhojan and healthy habits, with continuous monitoring. Supported by UNICEF, this initiative brought over 53% of the malnourished children out of the crisis in just nine months. This tale tells us that merely providing food isn’t enough; nutritional counselling paired with monitoring is key to overcoming malnutrition. When we embrace this strategy fully, India can take meaningful steps towards a Kuposhan Mukt Bharat—a malnutrition-free India. However, to achieve this, we need to institutionalize and implement #nutrition counselling uniformly across the country. Only then can we truly accelerate the fight against #malnutrition.
'A right isn’t enough. Food needs to be diverse, nutritious, and affordable for all' Dr Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) writes #ThePrintOpinion

Food security, as defined by the World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is achieved when all individual citizens in a country possess the financial means and access to sufficient, healthy, and nutritious food necessary for leading an active and healthy life.

October 16th is World Food Day. Remember, no farms = no food. Timac Agro's enhanced efficiency fertilizers contribute to global food security which is an ongoing topic with growing populations. We will continue to be challenged to grow higher yields on tighter inputs-which aligns with nutrient use efficiency. This helps improve food security around the world. #worldfoodday #farmthefuture #feedtheworld #nofarmsnofood

Food systems are a powerful lever to improve nutrition and global health, yet they are not delivering on their potential. Last year, The Ohio State University joined 170 other partners from around the world to take stock of the state of research, programs and policies on nutritious food systems and to forge consensus on priorities for action to drive food systems transformation. After the "Nutritious Food Systems Convening" in #London, a follow-up consultation took place at the 2023 Agriculture, Nutrition and Health Academy Week in #Lilongwe, #Malawi, to incorporate views from the broader NFS community. Based on those important consultations and the decade of work that preceded them, the Nutritious Food Systems Consortium drafted a Call to Action (https://lnkd.in/dUc_aamQ) identifying key areas of work to prioritize, and the vital principles and processes that must underlie that work. It envisions nutritious food systems where everyone enjoys an adequate, healthy diet with nutritious foods that are widely available, affordable, safe and demanded. It also envisions a food system that is resilient to economic and environmental volatility and does not contribute to environmental pressure and climate change. The priorities we identified cannot be pursued in isolation but require a transformational yet principled approach to shape food systems that live up to their potential. The members of the NFS Consortium have committed to pursuing and supporting these priorities and building movements to bring about transformational change in nutritious food systems.
