A major breakthrough for science and for improving how we measure emissions that accelerate climate change. Undoubtedly, this milestone sets a precedent in the quantification and measurement of methane and CO2. Carbon Mapper
The launch of Tanager-1 was a success! 🚀🎉 We’re thrilled to share that contact has been established with Tanager-1, the first Carbon Mapper Coalition satellite that was launched into orbit this afternoon. This moment marks a critical milestone in our work to drive local action on methane and CO2 super-emitters, globally. Soon the satellite, developed by Planet with technology from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, will begin the commissioning process as it prepares for the task ahead. Detecting, pinpointing and quantifying methane and CO2 emissions and their sources globally is a big mission that we’re proud to carry forward. Thanks to all the partners, including Planet Labs, NASA JPL, High Tide Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Grantham Foundation Zegar Family Foundation, Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), RMI, Arizona State University and others who make this mission possible! https://prn.to/4dKZbVc #CutMethane #Launch #MethaneData
