I'm Andy Lloyd, and have had a passion for radio all my life. Which is why I am re-launching several 'heritage’, local stations online, recreating the magic, sound and excitement of radio, as it used to be. Over the past few years, the radio landscape across the UK has changed. Local stations have disappeared, replaced by repetitive, robotic, and remote formats. Most of the content comes from London, so there is no local identity, no practical purpose and the same output 24/7 - much like a cold-water tap! Our project is designed to bring back real radio for real people. Our target audience is aged 40+, and our mix of music and programming will really suit all tastes. Less Global, More Local, you could say. The network we will be launching comprises 23 stations. We have a fully operational studio, the technology is in place, and we are running test transmissions, with a plan to launch the full stations soon. The project is a not-for-profit social enterprise, Independent Local Radio Limited, and we hold the UK trademarks for our stations, including Chiltern Radio, County Sound, Radio Victory, Pennine Radio, Radio Orwell, Southern Sound, Saxon Radio, WABC Radio and KCBC Radio. So far, I have funded everything myself, but as you can imagine, the costs involved are considerable so now we need your help. I’d be delighted to answer any questions, invite you to see the studio, and am keen to meet you, if you’d like to be involved. Contributions will be used for a subscription to a professional news service, music royalties, quality websites, alongside other innovations, such as Alexa Skills and iOS/Android apps. Having invested 10 years’ work into this enterprise, I know it WILL happen. We are almost there, but for the last few, very important, elements. Andy Lloyd's Morning Show - soon to be part of our station's programming - can be heard from 9am every weekday morning, on https://lnkd.in/eTdmwSH3 This is a good way to absorb the style and sound of the forthcoming stations. Financial support is ideal - and much needed - but if you’re unable to contribute, you can still be involved (radio production, presentation, web design and more). Please do get in touch with your ideas and suggestions too. Thank you. https://gofund.me/e39ae40c

HOW TO BE A CATEGORY ROCK STAR I often refer to 'tilting the head' - a learning mantra to pay attention to adjacencies or experiences that might inspire or inform how you 'turn up' in your own endeavours. Tilts often come from unlikely, marginal spaces. My head titled with this video by performance expert Luther Mallory, dissecting the stagecraft of The 1975 and Matty Healy 'At their very best'. I saw this defining arena show three times - each visit created new thoughts and thrills for its invention, challenge, commitment and minutely conceptual depth. What might we learn from this kind of lens on our businesses? What stagecraft strategies can we execute to build our market presence? 1. World class performers have a vision, build a concept, then take the time to 'light the stage' – we can avoid the risk and expense of a big reveal, rather luxuriate in humble emergence to overcome no/low budget limitations 2. Your stage presence should be a little unpredictable, so rehearse a planned moment such that you can step beyond it into spontaneity - ‘if you practice enough to know what you’re doing, you can be this aloof' 3. Deploy a simple prop to change up the dynamics – challenge, even defy the market rules, play with a new market construct, give it unabashed focus on confidence and being true to who you are 4. Focus on a singular moment of stripped back, vulnerable and therefore honest performance – ‘sing the shit out of the song' 5. 'Tiny dancing' is about executing small, aligned gestures/moves that pull people into your business cadences - ‘make a choice and commit to it’ 6. Know your 'banter'; better still, relish moments of silence, to draw people into your concept - we can protest too much 7. Demonstrate leadership through expressive as much as technical skill - 'rockstar shit' 8. Create breaks from the 'hype' to switch into a more low key, invested presence – note Luther's '3%' model of superfans moving to the front 9. Demonstrate acute internal focus and commit to the action, the proposition, the emotion, the moment 10. Good leaders pass the mic to showcase 'the band', even if they don’t always strike exactly the right notes 11. Find the space for a 'movie scene' in which the full concept can play out - don’t over-explain or dilute your concept, but stay firm and true, preparing the internal processes to be bold enough to take people with you (maybe even getting a little cryptic to drive curiosity) 12. Yes, risk getting a little sexy – ‘open your shirt’, earn your proximity to your customers and build the trust for a little lust 13. Show you have reserves of power and energy – 'scream it, train wreck completely’ 14. Do your own dance – learn how to channel your special intense energy, not be a slave to traditional market moves 15. Accept applause, as humility does not mean you cannot take plaudits and accept that you led the experience – 'thank you for thanking me' #stagecraft #presence #tiltthehead

Don't wait too long to turn the lights back on. It's never too late to re-connect, to reach out, or to make a difference. You have to take the first step. This new song from Billy Joel, his first in nearly 20 years, is very much about redemption. When I listen, it hits me right between the eyes and inspires me to act on things I've put off too long. So stop waiting. Whatever that "thing" is for you - reconnecting with family, finding a new job, pitching that big project, asking for the promotion - go get it. Go get it now. #act #billyjoel #turnthelightsbackon #relationships #communication #customerservice #leadership #marketing #cx #employeeengagement #music https://lnkd.in/eZkjhKr2
