"The world no longer has a choice between force and law; if civilization is to survive, it must choose the rule of law." -- Dwight D. Eisenhower If you believe in our Constitution, you will accept the results of all of the lawful elections. Donald Trump is our President. Saying he's not speaks more to one's inability to handle truth. To ridicule people who are shaken by this truth exposes more about one's decency and hypocrisy since nearly everyone in the United States has been saying "We need to be less divided." Americans who say they are Christians, today is the day we ask for grace and offer our grace to others. All of us. Because our faith means more than an election. To gloat is to again demonstrate hypocrisy as well as emptiness in one's faith. That doesn't mean people who are pleased with the outcome shouldn't celebrate. His win means something joyful to a lot of people. To lash out at the millions of people celebrating is petty and divisive. May their joy and our apprehension remain peaceful. So begins a new season. If you supported Harris, we have work to do over the next 4 years. Raise issues, don't tear down people. Be strategic, not reactive. And by all means, stay true to the anti-violence she still upholds. I remain faithful to the rule of law. The law got us through before, I pray the checks and balances work to keep our government stable. Donald Trump is our new and duly elected President of the United States. The people spoke. #prayforpeace

With all the pearl clutching and hand ringing, I haven’t heard any mention of a unity ticket with Vice President Kamala Harris? Kinsinger and Duncan are anti-Maga Republicans who have sacrificed so much, as have their families to go against Donald Trump as Republicans. These are the guys who could bring in all of the Nikki Haley voters and at a time of terrible divisiveness in our country unify and heal the nation as President Biden has done over the last 3 1/2 years taking over from a rogue president. After the Supreme Court ruling Trump is talking about military tribunals against his enemies list starting with Liz Cheney for having the audacity to hold a man to accountable for trying to overthrow a free and federal election, not only creating a slate of fake collectors, but then when that didn’t work waged a coup under the dome that Abraham Lincoln built as symbol of democracy and strength for freedom and liberty during the Civil War. This election is not about policy differences. It is about preserving the soul and patriotism of our nation against a minority of extremists and Trump’s Supreme Court now willing to do his bidding and utterly shocking ways. Wishing everybody a very happy 4th of July. This year more than any other I know I will be remembering why we celebrate this day. It stands for democracy, and why people chose to cross the Atlantic and build a nation by the people, for the people. Our forefathers did not envision giving unlimited powers and immunity to a president. In their infinite wisdom, they created three branches of government for the checks and balances needed not only begin a democratic nation and union but to sustain it. #democracy #usa #freedom #TheConstitution

Ezra Klein makes serious arguments for challenging Trump and Trumpism on 2 major fronts 1) just what is the meaning of America First vs Trump First 2) just what is going to make America safer? A prison who has made America unsafe in the four years he was prrsudentv( and as well before then) Whether it be his attempt to overthrow an election, inciting a mob to do it, creating uncertainty about America’s role in the world stage, uncertainty about vulnerablity in dealing with a pandemic during which over a million lives were list, or labeling America in the verge of total collapse if he doesn’t win - This is what the election campaign needs to be about. - how to keep America safe - not scared, fearful or angry - but rather inspired by goals, Opportunities l, confidence. and shared destinies.

On #ElectionDay, I would like to reshare this premonitory message I wrote on the eve of the midterms and yet I still sadly find just as applicable to date. American democracy has always prided itself on the sound confrontation between polar opposites and the overarching, shared belief that extremism shall be eradicated. Regardless of political partisanship, the health - if not the survival itself - of a democratic system ultimately rests in the hands of its people and hinges on their ability to detect a potentially subversive threat and neutralize it through the informed exercise of the miraculous power to vote. I truly hope that this election will signal the dawn of a new day on a troubled global landscape. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ “Should both houses turn red, Democrats would not contest the election. What might have sounded as plain obviousness a few years ago, now represents the essential fracture between law-abiding candidates who still choose to stay inside the lane traced by the “guardrails of democracy”, mutual toleration and forbearance, and those who evade and erase them. Should Republicans seize control of Congress, in spite of the skin-crawling agenda they relentlessly push forward, election deniers would flood the house floor in bunches and take a seat inside the building they themselves called to be stormed. Only to allow the violent coup that was kicked out the door to make itself in through the window. The risk at stake in the political landscape is even bigger than the overruling of a civil rights milestone. It’s as vital to American democracy than ever. If such elements from the GOP will prevail, constitutional hardball will be slammed in the face of self-restraint, decency and composure by individuals who lack any moral or political substance and the first move they could make is pretty elementary: impeachment. As a means of revenge for their mastermind Trump, as a testament to how far America has strayed from its fundamental unwritten practices and values. Democracy in America is eclipsing.” #democracy #usa #vote #potus #politics #righttovote #humanrights #thisisamerica

🗣 ...... "What I want Joe Biden to say to America at the Debate" If I were Joe Biden, I would start and end the debate with these comments: Why am I running for President? This question has weighed heavily on my mind. Tonight, I’m standing on this stage with a convicted felon, a leader of an insurrection, a deceiver, and an abuser. What can my opponent offer America other than further division? Before leaving this stage, I want to clarify one thing: This is America. We have laws, and no one is above them. I want every American to ponder this: How can we allow a felon—regardless of your stance on his conviction—to run for the highest office in the land when young white, black, and brown felons can’t even vote? This man’s influence on our great country has only sown division and discord. When I defeated him in the last election, he refused to accept the results. He warned us he wouldn't, and we all saw the chaos he incited. Donald Trump is a danger to our democracy. What are we even debating tonight? Some may call him honorable, but in the hearts of many Americans, we know one undeniable truth: We teach our children to obey the law. Donald Trump exemplifies what America does not need. If the President of the United States can’t respect the law, why should anyone else? Where is the justice in this? The world has witnessed his blatant disregard for our laws. There’s no debate to be had. This election is a referendum on hatred and division. We must stand together and ensure that the values we teach our children—honesty, integrity, respect for the law—are upheld in the land's highest office. Thank you. #ChooseDemocracyOverDictatorship #HateWontMakeAmericaGreat #ChoiceIsClearReasonOrTreason #VoteForJoeVoteForRoe #MakeAmericaSaneAgain

🇺🇸 Republican Jeff Flake’s Endorsement: Supporting Kamala Harris and Tim Walz 🇺🇸 “I'm a conservative Republican who had the honor of serving Arizona in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate for nearly two decades. Throughout my career, I’ve held the belief that America is a great country, and I am confident that our best days are still ahead. In our democracy, we don’t have to agree on every issue, but we should engage in respectful debate—one that persuades rather than demonizes. Political opponents are not our enemies; they are fellow citizens, the "loyal opposition" our parties once recognized. As a former U.S. Ambassador, I’ve seen the importance of understanding who our real enemies are abroad—and who our indispensable allies are. We need a President who knows the difference and can act accordingly. I believe in our Constitutional system, the rule of law, and respecting the will of the voters. Any candidate I support for President must honor these principles and never use the powers of the Presidency to overturn an election. Our country deserves a leader who seeks to unite us, not divide us. We need leadership that brings hope for the future, not grievances from the past. That’s why I’m supporting Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President. Having served with both of them, I know firsthand their fine character and love of country. I encourage all Republicans who share these values to do the same. In times like these, there's nothing more conservative than putting country over party.” #CountryOverParty #LeadershipForTheFuture #KamalaHarris #TimWalz #Unity

These people don't understand how they will be written about in history books. They think the pages will be filled with words like ethical, moral, and hero. They think their names will be praised past the lifetimes of Pelosi and Obama. They think nothing can stop them in the years and elections ahead. That progressivism will reign supreme far beyond their actions. All of that is false. History book pages will be filled with words like lawfare, spite, and election interference. Names like Bragg, Merchan, and Willis will be forgotten even before they leave the mortal coil. Zero legacies. They will be stopped sooner than they think. The appeals process will nullify what they think are wins. Trump will be president come January 2025. Progressivism may remain alive, but it will be on life support for my kids. Common sense will once again rise up, this time without a pamphlet. Our future is always uncertain, but finding our individual ways to fight the new war, the new tyrants, or the new power grab, will make life for our children and grandchildren resemble the United States we fell in love with in our time. For us, "a government of laws, and not of men" will be restored, and we will carry on...

TRUMP & VANCE: THE LYING DUET America, as the "home of the brave", demands unwavering truth and courage from its citizens. Political doublespeak and partisan "Doublethink" (deliberately believing in lies while knowing they're false) have no place in our democracy. The recent alarming trend within the Republican Party, a part that comprises one half of the American two-party system, cannot be sugarcoated as mere 'misinformation'. The outright brazenly pernicious, dangerous, ludicrous lies in grave denial of truth and blatantly oblivious to reality must not be mistaken by the American public as ‘misinformation’! The lies propagated by Trump-Vance and other GOP figures are deeply corrosive to public discourse and undermine democratic values. It is crucial for genuine conservative Republicans to uphold the core values of honesty and courage. Speaking the truth, even when challenging, and acting in alignment with patriotic convictions are fundamental duties for all Americans, regardless of political beliefs. From a historical perspective, the right American civic value to relentlessly speak the truth, no matter how difficult and to act courageously in accordance with honorable patriotic convictions has always served the United States of America in progressing towards the right political outcome “…TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION”. Let us prioritize integrity and courage in the face of falsehoods and uphold the principles that have always defined our nation and not be deceived by Trump’s contemporary, self-serving, and disingenuous political campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” Trump and Vance’s strategy is ‘say anything, make up anything’: Create stories, make false claims, BIG LIES as a tactic to win support https://lnkd.in/gymcaDcW #AmericanValues #TruthMatters #election2024

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY A few days ago I wrote an article here on LinkedIn. The title was, "The Treat to Democracy in the US Could Not Be Greater." https://lnkd.in/evNr_hXp In it I also stated that I believed this was undermining confidence in democracy the world over whilst emboldening the dictators and autocrats. Today in the Financial Times Martin Wolf presents evidence that Trust in Democracy amongst Americans is in decline on a large scale, and externally Confidence in US democracy is in decline in many countries. The figures are frightening - or should be! Wolf writes, "In the past, the power of the US president has been contained by a strong civic morality, by the decency of its senior political figures, by an independent judiciary and by independent political parties. But much of this has been eroded. Given all this, the re-election of Trump will have global implications. The damage done to the credibility of democracy is already noteworthy: confidence has been eroded, not just in US democracy, but in democracy itself. This will get worse." The re-election of Trump would certainly be a disaster for Democracy in America and around the world, but the problem does not reast only with Trump or with the Republicans. The problem is also with the Democrats and the corrupt political system in the US. What we see are the symptoms of it. It really is a bad example of democracy and not one that any true supporters of democracy would advocate. Trust in American Democracy can only be restored if it is radically reformed. But the worst outcome would be for Trump to be re-elected so he could undermine it further and realise the ambition he has, which he is not even attempting to hide. And his threat should not be dismissed as mere bluster or bombast. The risk that it is more than that is a risk that should not be taken. #US #USelections #USA #USpolitics #Republicans #Democrats #Trump #Democracy #Corruption #Trust #conficence #Reform #Politicalresorfm

"The Broken Two-Party Debate" If you were hoping that a debate between two 80 year old presidential candidates would clarify some questions you might harbor on who to vote for. You, like many Americans, were severely disappointed. What the broken two party system has given us is a clear choice: the need for something different. Republicans are running a fascist, would-be dictator cult leader who embodies everything the Anti-Christ from the New Testament is meant to resemble. And his Supporters still support him. Democrats are running a walking corpse, who has a negative approval rating, and is TIED in polling with the biggest threat to democracy America has faced. If symbolism means anything then Biden might be the "Death to Democracy". For Independents, the only thing we understood from this debate is that democracy under a two party system will crumble and fail - And Independents are not leaning Biden.

#politics #unitedstates #nobelprize House speaker Mike Johnson posts on X: “It was an honor to host President Trump this morning with our House Republican Conference. Something is happening across America: People recognize this will be the most consequential election of our lifetimes. Everything is at stake. With President Trump, we are going to win back the White House, win the Senate, and grow the House majority. When we do that, we will not waste a moment to fix all the great problems facing our country right now.” I am deeply concerned about @realDonaldTrump’s erratic behavior and unpredictable and undemocratic ‘my way or the highway’ conduct as president and given his statements inciting an unconstitutional insurrection on 01/06/2021 and calls for violence after that. If Trump is the nominee I will not vote in the election. If @POTUS Joe Biden The White House is the nominee I will not vote either because of the wars. Both candidates and the state of nation’s politics is unacceptable. Washington needs the Supreme Court to issue an open ended restraining order on it to keep the American people safe from their unhinged paranoid schizophrenic and hopelessly broken government, which has neither insight nor judgment about its behavior, in urgent need of involuntary mental health care from the days of Bill Clinton to Donald Trump once again embracing brazen, in your face, mendacity to accumulate and perpetuate absolute power. United States of America has become a danger to itself and the world.
